Spartan Hoopla: Michigan State's Chris Allen Is Rumored To Transfer
A couple months ago, I took a lot of heat for publishing a post about Allen's supposed problems in East Lansing. I had information leaked to me by trusted connections that he was going to transfer or redshirt.
There were also rumors that his suspension prior to the Big Ten Tournament was a result of an altercation with teammate Durrell Summers.
I was contacted by a member of a major media outlet inquiring about my sources, slammed on SpartanTailgate.com, and nearly lost my career.

It was a lesson learned.
I never want to go through that again. My inbox was bombarded with angry Spartan fans calling me everything you could imagine, none of which is appropriate to repeat.
I emailed Matt Larson of MSU's basketball media relations, apologizing for any harm that my article may have caused. According to the media outlet that contacted me, Allen's mother read the post and was furious.
Well, according to MLive.com's Spartan basketball beat writer David Mayo, it turns out the inside information wasn't bogus after all—at least about the transfer part.
The Summers-Allen altercation has yet to be proved. The same can be said for the rumors of counseling being offered. So, we'll put those to rest.
Hearsay can cause mountainous problems. But Mayo's article lends a little credibility to the matter. ESPN has recently weighed in as well, as fans continue to speculate on Allen's fate.
Here is an excerpt from Mayo's article:
"Allen, who will be a (senior) next season, has been the subject of widespread transfer rumors.
“'There is still one other player that’s up in the air, and I have to make some tough decisions—and I will—and he’s got to make some tough decisions,' Izzo said. 'So there might be one more coming or going. But to be honest with you, that’s just the way it is right now. We should be able to make that decision in the next couple of days because we’ll do it before he leaves.
“'What I’m trying to do is make sure that the program, that everybody in the program, is trying to get done what I think needs to get done.
'And sometimes, not everybody fits that profile. That’s not necessarily bad on them, it might be bad on me. It’s not necessarily bad on me, it might be bad on them. Or it might be it’s just not the right fit.'"
