Joe WhitworthApr 19, 2010

With all teams in the County Championship Division One, now having taken to the field for the new season, it's time to see how they went on.

Yorkshire are the current pace setters with 43 points having played two matches and won them both, against Warwickshire and Somerset.

The white rose county's first win was gained thanks to Oliver Hannon-Dalby's 5-68 in only his second first class match and Jacques Rudolph's 75 in the first innings and unbeaten 69 in the second.

Essex are in second with 30 points after beating Hampshire and drawing with title holders Durham.

Durham had second innings knocks from Michael Di Venuto (99) and Dale Benkenstein (98) and bad weather to thank for escaping with a draw.

Nottinghamshire are in third with 24 points, having played only one game, a innings and 32 run win over Kent.

Hashim Amla's 129 helped Notts to a first innings score of 456 and match figures of 7-141 for Andre Adams saw Kent skittled for 200 and 224.

Lancashire are fourth with 21 points after one match, a 121 run win against Warwickshire.

The match was even until No. 11 Sajid Mahmood smashed 52 from 41 balls in a last wicket stand of 77 in the second innings.

Ian Westwood carried his bat for 82 in vain for the visitors to Old Trafford and even Imran Tahir's 36 from 40 balls couldn't prevent defeat.

Simon Kerrigan, on his first class debut took match figures of 7-88, including 5-43 in the second innings.

Warwickshire are fifth with nine points after their two defeats, followed by Hampshire (six points), Durham (four points), Kent (four points), and Somerset (four points).

The next round of fixtures sees win-less Durham and Hampshire clash, unbeaten Essex and Lancashire at Chelmsford, Kent take on Yorkshire, and Nottinghamshire against Somerset from April 21-24.
