Demian Maia Says Anderson Silva “Begged My Forgiveness” After UFC 112
Although UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva may have stated he wasnโt remorseful about his antics at UFC 112 , Demian Maiaโthe man he dissed directlyโclaims the champion not only apologized to him, but โbeggedโ for forgiveness.
โI just thought it was disrespectful for him to swear at me during the fight,โ Maia told GracieMag.com . โSaying things like, โYou (expletive) mommaโs boy, show me your jiu jitsu.โ That type of stuff. I felt it was disrespectful and unnecessary."
โAside from that, it was a normal fight.โ

Actually, most would contend everything that went down during the main event in Abu Dhabi this past Saturday was completely abnormal.
Following his uneventful unanimous decision victory, Silva claimed Maia had called him out on something related to his Brazilian jiu jitsu skills and thatโs what prompted him to put on his โembarrassing โ circus act during the UFCโs Middle East debut.
โI came here well-trained, but Demian disrespected me,โ Silva stated at the UFC 112 post-fight press conference . โIโm a black belt, and Iโve never stepped into the ring and disrespected anyone verbally before the fight and said things like that.โ
Silva has not specified what Maia may have said that triggered him, however, โThe Spiderโ appears to be teetering on his level of regret.
During his post-fight Octagon interview, Silva expressed great remorse over his shenanigans, however, started back-peddling at the press conference just moments later by claiming, โI donโt feel like I owe anyone an apology .โ
It appears the champ may actually have regretted his actions , as he repented to the man he taunted for 25 ridiculous minutes, perhaps the guy that was the most deserving of an apology.
โHe begged my forgiveness and I feel everyone makes mistakes, thatโs normal,โ Maia stated. โI feel something influenced him afterwords and he came up with that statement about me having disrespected him. I never made any strong statements and, even if I had, it would have been to promote the fight, which is normal. The fight ends and the two fighters [should] embrace.โ
Yesterday, UFC president Dana White appeared as a guest on ESPNโs Jim Rome is Burning and issued a stern warning to the planetโs baddest 185-pounder.
โIf he ever acts like that again in the ring I will cut him,โ White emphatically stated . โI donโt care if heโs the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. I donโt care if heโs the middleweight champion. I will cut him, absolutely.โ
