Masters 2010 Leaderboard: Final Round Coverage and Results
6:51pm EDT - Lee Westwood finishes out his round at one-under for the round and 13-under for the tournament, giving the stage soley to Phil Mickelson.
A nice birdie put for Phil Mickelson closes out a tremendous win for the San Diego native. What a win for him and his family.
Congratulations to Phil Mickelson. A great win, a great player, and a great guy to watch in every tournament he plays in.

LeBron's Joke on Father Time ⌛️

Luka Unlikely to Start Series
Thanks for hanging out with me over the last four days. This is the first time I've gotten a chance to do this and I've enjoyed it throughly.
We'll see everyone at the Verizon Heritage in South Carolina beginning this coming Thursday.
6:48pm EDT - Mickelson enjoys his walk up 18 as the Masters champion for 2010. What a great tournament Phil has had and to walk up the final hole with no drama whatsoever and it being a foregone conclusion.
6:45pm EDT - Mickelson with an incredible shot at 18 to within eight feet. That shot right there closes out this tournament. Get the green jacket ready and walk it down to 18 fellas, it's going around the shoulders of Phil Mickelson.
For Lee Westwood, it's another missed opportunity at a major championship and he'll be known as Phil once was, "the guy that can't win a major." He had the lead to begin the day but Phil Mickelson was that much better.
6:40pm EDT - Phil, even with the pressure on, lands his six-foot par putt on 17 and will have a two shot lead going to 18.
6:38pm EDT - A birdie from Lee Westwood and that puts the pressure on Phil Mickelson right here to land this par putt. Make this and he goes to 18 with a two shot lead.
6:33pm EDT - Tiger and KJ Choi enjoy the reception as they walk up 18. Both played well and had their great moments over the last four days but neither could grab the tournament and take complete control. All-in-all, not a bad tournament for either guy.
6:30pm EDT - Good tee shot for Phil at 17, he'll be in the second cut on the right side of the fairway. Just play it safe and bring it on home.
6:28pm EDT - Phil taps in for par at 16 and maintains his three-shot lead with two to play. The last two holes will just be a formality unless he completely falls apart, but I don't see that happening.
6:25pm EDT - Fred Couples will tap in for a par and he'll hear the ovation from the Augusta gallery that surrounds him at 18. Still the fan favorite. We'll see him back here again next year.
6:24pm EDT - What a win this will be for Phil Mickelson, especially with his mother and his wife both battling breast cancer. Make no mistake that this green jacket, on this day, will mean more to him than the other two.
6:19pm EDT - Beautiful tee shot from Phil Mickelson on the par three 16th to within 20 feet. He'll have that for birdie or, at the worst, a par to keep his three shot lead.
Fred Couples enjoying his walk up 18 and the applause from the gallery. What a week Fred has had and it looked like he might just pull off the unthinkable earlier in the day but just couldn't keep things rolling, missing a few key putts.
6:18pm EDT - Westwood misses a birdie putt on 15, allowing Phil to walk up to the 16th tee with a three shot lead.
6:16pm EDT - Phil can't quite make the eagle putt but will tap in for birdie to move to 15-under par and all but put this tournament away.
So, I'll say it now. Your 2010 Masters champion, Phil Mickelson.
6:14pm EDT - If Phil can close out his third Masters championship, he'll join the likes of Jimmy Demaret, Nick Faldo, Gary Player, and Sam Snead who all have three green jackets a piece. Quite a list of legends to add your name to.
6:13pm EDT - Phil on the green in two at the par five 15th. If he makes this putt from about 10 feet, the tournament is over. Even a birdie would all but put this tournament on ice.
6:11pm EDT - Phil is on 15 at the moment and has birdied this hole five times in his last six chances at this hole.
6:09pm EDT - Tiger misses the green on the 16th, something he couldn't afford to do if he was going to get even close to Mickelson to close out the day. He'll have two putts for his par.
6:05pm EDT - If Lee Westwood needed a sense of urgency it needs to be right now.
Anthony Kim landed a par at 18 and finished with a seven-under par 65 today, matching Nick Watney for the best round of the day. Kim finishes at 12-under par for the tournament and will now watch Phil Mickelson the rest of the way.
At this point, it's Phil's tournament to win or lose.
6:04pm EDT - Tiger lands his fourth eagle of the week, tying a Masters record. He moves to 10-under par and you have to wonder if Tiger isn't kicking himself for the way he played the first five or six holes today.
6:03pm EDT - A par save for Mickelson and he'll take a two shot lead to 15.
6:01pm EDT - The only guy that can catch Phil Mickelson now is his playing partner, Lee Westwood. Anthony Kim will more than likely have to settle for another par and both him and Westwood have to pray for at least two bogeys over the next four holes.
5:59pm EDT - Fred Couples with a disappointing bogey at 16 drops him back to eight-under par for the tournament. What a great four days this has been for Couples though and the reception he's received from fans reminds me of his younger days.
5:56pm EDT - Phil landed his second shot at 14 on the green but it spins off the green and he'll have that to get up and down for par.
Anthony Kim hit his second shot out of the bunker on 18 wide right and into the greenside bunker.
5:54pm EDT - I'll say this about the final round today. It hasn't been short of drama, incredible shots and changes in momentum. It has given us everything on this last day at Augusta and it's been a tournament to remember.
5:52pm EDT - Anthony Kim lands in the fairway bunker off the tee at 18. One more birdie from Phil Mickelson and I'll go ahead and crown him the 2010 Masters champion.
5:51pm EDT - Wow, Tiger three-putts on two very shot putts and lands a bogey at 14 and his chances of winning are about gone.
5:49pm EDT - Phil Mickelson makes his birdie putt to go up by two over Lee Westwood and Anthony Kim who made par at 17. Kim has to birdie 18 and hope to get a stroke or two back from Mickelson somewhere along the way.
KJ Choi with back-to-back bogeys and it looks like his hopes of a green jacket have been dashed at this point.
5:48pm EDT - Phil missed the eagle putt, correction on that it was not a birdie putt. He'll have the same distance coming back for birdie.
5:46pm EDT - Very nice ship shot from Anthony Kim. He's got about five feet left for a birdie to move him to a tie of the lead at 13-under, at least until Phil Mickelson lands his birdie putt at 13.
5:43pm EDT - Anthony Kim punches through the trees and will be right in front of the greenside bunker. He'll have a tough up and down to land another birdie.
Tiger with a nice approach shot at 14 to within about five feet. KJ Choi misses the green with his second shot and it looks like he is losing a lot of the momentum he had built up for himself earlier in the day.
5:42pm EDT - Lee Westwood has to be wondering what it's going to take for him to finally win a major because the way Phil Mickelson is playing right now, Westwood has zero shot of beating him.
5:41pm EDT - Lee Westwood made the only play he could make out of the pine needles on 13, punched it through and will have about 75-80 yards left to the hole. Now it's Phil's turn to punch through the trees.
OH!!! What a shot by Phil Mickelson! Through the trees to within 3 feet. If he holds on to win, that's the shot right there that landed him the green jacket.
5:38pm EDT - KJ Choi misses his par putt, his first real mistake all day long. It will push him two back of the lead at 10-under par.
5:37pm EDT - Tiger with a birdie at 13 and he's back to nine-under par. He's four back of Mickelson with five to play.
5:36pm EDT - What Anthony Kim couldn't afford was a bad tee shot on 17 but that's exactly what happened as he went way right.
5:34pm EDT - KJ Choi caught his bunker shot fat and can still two-putt for par.
5:32pm EDT - Don't look now Phil but here comes Anthony Kim. Another long birdie putt on 16 and he's one shot back of the lead.
5:30pm EDT - With Mickelson's birdie at 12, it all but ends the possibility of a Tiger Woods' comeback. He's five back with six to play.
5:28pm EDT - Phil Mickelson takes the lead back with a birdie at 12 to go to 13-under par
5:27pm EDT - Great applause for Tom Watson walking up 18. A former champion that looked like he would be a factor after day one but just couldn't keep the momentum. Still a great moment for a legend of the game.
5:21pm EDT - An eagle from Anthony Kim and he's one shot off the lead. How about this young kid?!
5:12pm EDT - Tiger misses his par putt and finishes with a bogey at 11 to fall back to eight-under par, four shots back of the leader with seven to play.
5:09pm EDT - Anthony Kim with a birdie at 14 and he's at nine-under par with four to go. Can Kim catch the leaders?
5:07pm EDT - What a shot from Tiger on his third. He needed to get it to the green and he not only got that done but he's within five feet for par. Only Tiger...
5:04pm EDT - Tiger tried to punch through the trees and just when it seemed like it was gonna get through, it caught the last tree and kicked straight left.
KJ Choi sends his to the green on his second shot and is within 15-20 feet for birdie.
5:01pm EDT - Anthony Kim with a birdie at 13 moves him to eight-under par for the tournament.
As I say that, Fred Couples' tee shot lands in the water at 12. Bad timing for that kind of shot.
4:59pm EDT - Unforced error from Fred Couples will land him a bogey at 11 to drop him back to nine-under par.
4:58pm EDT - Great chip from off the green by Phil Mickelson to within a foot or two for par. That's a great up and down for Phil.
4:56pm EDT - KJ Choi has one of the more controlled golf swings. If you're watching this tournament, watch Choi off the tee and it's so controlled and so smooth.
Tiger's tee shot goes wide right. Not the time to be losing momentum.
4:55pm EDT - Phil needs a good up and down here to save par and keep Westwood at bay.
4:54pm EDT - Phil has one of the toughest shots I think I've seen this week. He's got a big tree trunk in front of him and low hanging branches around him. Good luck with that Phil.
4:50pm EDT - KJ Choi has tied Phil Mickelson at 12-under with a birdie at 10. Can he glide right past the leaders that started this day?
4:49pm EDT - Tiger with a par at 10 and will remain at nine-under par.
Phil Mickelson lets out an "OH NO" off the tee at 10 and goes wide left. Not the right time to be giving up shots to Westwood.
Fred Couples with a great tee shot at 11.
4:47pm EDT - KJ "Smooth Operator" Choi with a beautiful second shot to put him within about eight feet for birdie. Make that and he'll pull into a tie with Phil Mickelson at 12-under par for the tournament.
4:45pm EDT - Nick Watney picked up his eighth birdie of the day on the 17th.
Westwood three-putts for bogey and drops back to 11-under par, giving Phil Mickelson the outright lead going to the back nine.
4:44pm EDT - Tiger on the green on the 10th. He's played the last three holes at four-under par and has really turned his day around after a tough start.
4:41pm EDT - Nice par putt from Fred Couples to remain at 10-under par for the tournament and still two shots back of the lead.
4:40pm EDT - Tiger just not hitting the ball off the tee like we're used to seeing him. It's going left, it's going straight up, it's going right. All of that and he's just three back of the lead.
Why can't I do that on the golf course?
4:38pm EDT - Seven birdies and one bogey for Nick Watney today. You know he has to be kicking himself for his 76 on Friday.
4:37pm EDT - Sergio Garcia with a tough round today, finishing at six-over par and 10-over for the tournament. Finishes with his worst round of 78 today.
4:36pm EDT - Yet another birdie for Tiger Woods and he's now at nine-under par for the tournament as he turns to the back nine. Three shots back with nine to play. This is getting good!
4:34pm EDT - A par at the ninth for KJ Choi keeps him at 11-under just one shot back of the leaders.
4:33pm EDT - Phil, after making birdie at eight, hits a horrible tee shot at nine in to the gallery. So much for the momentum he was picking up.
4:31pm EDT - Tiger starting to pick up the confidence after a two-hole stretch of eagle, birdie. He puts himself to within eight feet for birdie on the ninth. You have to wonder how much he's looking at the leaderboard or getting updates from his caddie on who's doing what.
4:29pm EDT - Mickelson holes his birdie putt and is in a tie for the lead at 12-under par. Phil starting to pick up the momentum a little bit at the exact right time.
4:27pm EDT - Mickelson puts his second shot at eight to within five feet and will have that left for birdie to move in to a tie for the lead unless Westwood can hole his 15-footer for birdie to keep the lead.
4:26pm EDT - Birdie putt from Fred Couples on nine and he's at 10-under par for the tournament. Watch out young guns, the old guy knows how to play.
4:25pm EDT - What a tee shot for Tiger Woods on the ninth. You can feel the momentum starting to build for him and the confidence beginning to return.
4:24pm EDT - Speaking of Westwood, he's on the green at nine and will have a 10-15 foot putt for birdie to extend his lead.
4:22pm EDT - Birdie from KJ Choi on the eighth and he's just one shot back of Lee Westwood. What a round he's having so far today.
4:22pm EDT - Tiger holes his birdie to move him to eight-under par heading to the ninth.
4:21pm EDT - What a shot from Fred Couples on the ninth. He'll have about a five-footer for birdie to move him to 10-under par, two shots back of Lee Westwood.
4:20pm EDT - Correction from earlier post. A birdie will move Tiger to eight-under, not nine-under. Four shots back of Lee Westwood and three of Phil Mickelson.
4:19pm EDT - Tiger just misses the eagle putt and will have another 5-6 feet coming back for birdie.
4:15pm EDT - Lee Westwood finds himself in the bunker on eight off the tee.
Tiger's second shot on eight just off the green and will have a fun putt down the hill for an eagle. At worst, he'll pick up yet another birdie and move him to nine-under if he can get it done.
Here he comes...
4:12pm EDT - Fred Couples never had a chance on that birdie putt at eight. Started it left and it never broke right, stayed straight on.
4:10pm EDT - Lee Westwood just made a spectacular shot out of the bunker on the seventh. He'll have a very shot putt there for par to stay at 12-under par.
4:08pm EDT - Nick Watney having a heck of a day today. He's currently at five-under par for the day and six-under for the tournament.
Take his 74 away on Friday and Watney is sitting with Couples and Choi and possibly a few strokes better. Proud of Nick especially being a Fresno State guy myself.
4:05pm EDT - Lee Westwood sitting, once again, in the tree line just like he was on the very first hole. I don't know how he's still holding on to the lead because he's not grabbing a hold of this tournament, that's for sure.
4pm EDT - Westwood misses a birdie putt but will stay at 12-under but with Tiger's eagle at seven to move him to seven-under, could this be a momentum swing. Is this the moment that the comeback begins?
3:58pm EDT - Tiger Woods on seven holes out for an eagle and a much needed shot to get him back on track. Is this the start of things to come?
3:54pm EDT - Matt Kuchar, one of Tiger Woods' playing partners on Thursday and Friday, chips in for eagle on 15 and is back to even par for the tournament.
3:52pm EDT - Fred Couples narrowly missed a birdie putt on seven that would have moved him up to 10-under but instead will keep him at nine-under and in fourth place.
3:50pm EDT - Don't look now but KJ Choi just picked up a birdie to move him to 10-under par for the tournament and is one shot back of Mickelson and two back of Westwood.
Another "Augusta roar" at 16 and it was Ryan Moore with an ace on the par three. Not sure what he's wearing with the green tie and black sweater but an ace will make up for that.
3:48pm EDT - A birdie from Lee Westwood and he's back on top at 12-under for the tournament, one shot better than Phil Mickelson.
Even birdie putts aren't falling for Tiger. He'll pick up another par at six and will remain at five-under for the tournament.
3:47pm EDT - Great par save for Phil Mickelson. Gotta give him credit that he's not giving any shots away to Westwood.
3:44pm EDT - Two guys that are looking up and could make a very swift move are Fred Couples and KJ Choi, both at nine-under par for the tournament, just two shots back of the leaders.
If either one can get rolling and pickup a few birdies, this tournament could get very interesting very quickly.
3:42pm EDT - Mickelson misses the green at five. I thought for sure Phil would come out firing but all pars for him today.
3:38pm EDT - Yet another bogey for Tiger at the fifth and he'll drop to three-over for the day and five-under for the tournament. He's six shots back with 13 holes yet to play.
3:37pm EDT - I'm going to stop just short of putting Tiger Woods out to pasture for this tournament but he's giving me no reason at all to think he's going to play well enough the rest of the way to win.
3:35pm EDT - A bogey for Lee Westwood at four. Westwood or Mickelson, who blinks first?
3:34pm EDT - A badly played second shot from Lee Westwood gives him a tough par putt to stay one above Phil Mickelson.
3:33pm EDT - Phil Mickelson will tap in for par to remain at even par and 11-under for the tournament.
3:29pm EDT - How cool does it have to be for 16-year old Matteo Manassero to close out his first ever Masters tournament at four-over par and to be recognized at the end of the day in Butler Cabin as the low amateur? I just want to be able to see the tournament in person but for him to be able to play there and to be recognized has to be quite a thrill.
3:28pm EDT - Great shot from Phil Mickelson puts him to within about 20-25 feet for birdie.
3:27pm EDT - Lee Westwood misses the green to the right on the par three fourth hole.
I'm still waiting for either him or Mickelson to grab control of this tournament but neither has really done that though they are still early in their final rounds.
3:25pm EDT - Correction, Tiger picks up another bogey at four after missing his par putt to the right and will drop to six-under with 14 holes to play. He's two-over for the day.
3:25pm EDT - A par from KJ Choi on four keeps him at nine-under par for the tournament. The CBS analysts said it right, "he just won't go away will he?"
3:24pm EDT - Westwood and Mickelson will both pick up pars at three and will move on to four with Westwood up by one shot at 12-under par.
3:22pm EDT - Tiger will pick up yet another par at four. I said it once and I'll say it again, he's not going to win picking up pars through the day.
3:20pm EDT - I have to say that green at three is darn near impossible. I don't how golfers keep their shots from trickling down the front end of the green and 50 yards down the hill
3:18pm EDT - Speaking of Tiger, he missed the green yet again off the tee at the par three fourth.
3:15pm EDT - One thing I want to bring up before we continue the coverage. A blog on yahoo.com talked about Tiger's use of profanity a few times during Saturday's round.
Tiger said during his pre-Masters press conference that he would try and show more respect for the game. But you didn't think Tiger would show a lack of emotion during these four days did you?
I think this blog is a tad too critical and expecting a tad too much. Just my opinion.
3:12pm EDT - What a par save from KJ Choi on what looked like an impossible putt to make. That will keep him at nine-under for the tournament.
Tiger makes a par save as well at the third and it will keep him at seven-under par for the tournament but he's got a lot of work to do if he wants to get back in contention. Par saves are not going to do it today.
3:09pm EDT - Tiger missed the green on three and continues to struggle.
Westwood (-12) birdies the par five second and once again takes a one shot lead over Phil Mickelson (-11).
3pm EDT - A birdie for Choi at the second and he's at nine-under par for the tournament. Watch out for him today.
2:58pm EDT - Is it me or is KJ Choi quietly playing his way up the leaderboard. No one really talks about him winning this tournament but he's been making great shots in both the first and second holes.
If he can make this birdie putt on the par five second hole, it will put him alone in third place at nine-under par, just two shots back of Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood at 11-under.
2:57pm EDT - Tiger's second shot out of the bunker ends up right back in the bunker about five feet in front of him. There is no confidence in Tiger right now, none.
2:55pm EDT - Tiger's second shot on the second hole ended up in the greenside bunker. He just looks way off his game. He looked good on Thursday but over the last three days has not made the shots we've been used to seeing him make.
If this continues all day, he's not going to get close to contention unless Westwood and Mickelson give up a few shots here and there.
2:53pm EDT - Phil misses his birdie putt to the right and will finish with a par on the first to stay at a tie at 11-under with Lee Westwood as they head to the second hole.
2:50pm EDT - Westwood will stay consistant on the first with a bogey to drop down to 11-under par and a tie with Phil Mickelson, at least for now. Mickelson will have a 15-foot putt for birdie to take the outright lead.
2:48pm EDT - Westwood got the ball up and it caught the branch of a tree and dropped on to the fairway. Westwood's career on the first hole at Augusta is a combined +13. At least he's consistant.
2:46pm EDT - Mickelson off to a great start on one. Played it smart off the tee then puts his second shot to within 10-15 feet for birdie.
Westwood's tee shot did not clear the tree line and it'll give him a tough second shot. I can't imagine he can do anything but punch this shot and keep it low, try to get it at least close to the green.
2:43pm EDT - Tough start for Tiger as he'll bogey the first to fall back to seven-under for the tournament. If he wants to win, you can't be giving strokes to either Mickelson or Westwood.
Fred Couples on two getting the crowd excited. There's one of the reasons he's such a fan favorite.
2:41pm EDT - Westwood puts his ball into the gallery on the left side but not sure it cleared the tree line.
You can tell by the applause from the gallery at the first hole who the fans are rooting for between Mickelson and Westwood.
2:39pm EDT - Lee Westwood pulling a Tiger Woods and going with a red shirt for the final round. Way to be original there Lee.
2:38pm EDT - KJ Choi on the green for birdie. Won't be an easy putt from at least 15-20 feet.
2:37pm EDT - Not a bad second shot by Tiger, just short of the green. He can get up and down for par and save what started as a disastrious hole.
2:34pm EDT - Anthony Kim with a birdie at two to move to one-under for the day and six-under for the tournament.
Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood walking up to the first tee as the final group. Can Phil win his third green jacket? Can Lee Westwood win his first ever major tournament?
2:32pm EDT - Freddy Couples with a par at one to start his day to remain at seven-under par for the tournament.
2:31pm EDT - Not the way Tiger wanted to start today. His tee shot went WAY left. Yikes..
2:29pm EDT - Two words for Tiger today, his one key to victory, be consistant.
2:28pm EDT - Nick Watney is two-under through six. You have to wonder if it weren't for his four-over round on Friday if he wouldn't be toward the top of the leaderboard as well.
2:26pm EDT - Tiger Woods and KJ Choi walking up to the first tee to begin their final round of the Masters.
We know about Tiger but is KJ Choi a darkhorse today?
2:22pm EDT - Tiger Woods is in his familiar final round color, red. Can he pull off a huge win here at Augusta today or will this be a fight that he just doesn't have enough in the tank to win?
1:33pm EDT - Nick Watney, Sean O'Hair, and David Toms all even par through the first hole.
1:30pm EDT - Scott Verplank with a birdie at seven to move to three-under par for the day and even par for the tournament.
12:54pm EDT - Ben Crane with back-to-back birdies on six and seven to move to two-under for the day and two-over for the tournament.
12:47pm EDT - Kenny Perry and defending champion Angel Cabrera are 10 minutes from teeing off. Cabrera will be presenting the green jacket at the end of the day to the 2010 Masters champion.
12:43pm EDT - Best round of the day so far is with Miguel Angel Jimenez. Two birdies in the first three holes puts him at two-under par for the day.
12:35pm EDT - Is it too early to look ahead to the 2011 Masters and pick a few favorites to win next year or will it be the same cast of characters?
12:17pm EDT - Let's talk about Fred Couples for a minute. This is a guy that went into the Shell Houston Open after winning three straight tournaments on the Champions Tour only to not play that well through three rounds but got it together for the final round but it was too late by then.
He's a fan favorite at Augusta and a favorite of my late grandfather. He was someone I grew up watching and someone I still enjoy watching to this day. To be towards the top of the leaderboard, currently in fifth place, and playing as well as he has is a great accomplishment.
But make no mistake about it, Freddy is here to win, not just place.
12:09pm EDT - I'm curious about Lee Westwood's ability to play like he did yesterday. Though, during Mickelson's run over a 30-minute span, Westwood looked like a heavyweight fighter being pounded on the ropes just to have the bell ring before the knockout punch.
12:05pm EDT - I thought after a two-under 70 on Friday that Sergio Garcia might actually have a small amount of momentum but that came to an end with a four-over 76 on Saturday and it hasn't gotten much better today.
Garcia picked up a bogey on one and four and a double-bogey on three and is three-over par for his round today, seven-over par for the tournament.
12:03pm EDT - Anyone surprised that Ernie Els hasn't been in the race at all over these four days?
12pm EDT - Retief Goosen with two birdies in his first three holes on the day.
11:57am EDT - Nathan Green off to a bad start already, he was four-over par through just three holes today. He's gotten two back with back-to-back birdies on six and seven.
11:54am EDT - I forgot to list your four questions for today, so here they are:
1) Can Phil Mickelson carry the momentum from his five stroke gain in three holes over to the final round?
2) Can Lee Westwood finally hang on to a lead and win a major championship?
3) Can Tiger capitalize on makeable putts, something he hasn't done for the last three rounds?
4) Can Fred Couples make the biggest move and win the Masters?
Good morning golf fans and those that will be following along with today's final round of the Masters at Augusta National.
This could be the most anticipated round of golf in recent history and possibly the most star studded top of the leaderboard we've ever seen.
Guys like Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood, Fred Couples, KJ Choi, and others have a legit shot at wearing the green jacket when the day is done. There's going to be drama, big putts, missed opportunities, and the always familiar Augusta roars.
Today is going to be fun, so let's get to it shall we?
