This talent in Arsenal is a naturally right-footed player, he generally plays as a wing forward for Arsenal, but has also been used in central and defensive midfield roles when at times it is needed.
He has been hailed by many as the "new Zidane" and also recently hailed as the "new Messi" after his recent goal in a Champions League match against F.C. Porto. In that match at Arsenal grounds, he beat three players, twisting and turning his way towards the goal, and smashed the ball in low past a helpless Porto goalkeeper from a tight angle.
The Good
Nasri scored in his EPL debut for the Gunners against West Brom with a close range effort, after four minutes of the first game of the season, on 16 August 2008.
Nasri scored the brilliant goal against FC Porto, fooling three players of Porto, and has scored three goals in four CL matches this season.
Nasri is believed to be the all way star of the future for Arsenal and is thought to be the likes of Fabregas (who is unarguably a GOD at this moment in Arsenal). The Gooners may say, "Fabregas is not our only one.... we have players like Nasri."
One day he will play like Zidane, or at least like Fabregas. But that day may come never ever.
The Bad
Here comes again Nasri, the bubble of Arsenal.
In his EPL season this year, he has scored one goal in 19 appearances for Arsenal. The goal that he scored against FC Porto is good, but again the latter is a team of degrading standards.
So getting a goal against a weaker team is a quite easy one, if you see.
This season Arsenal has lost all the way to its rivals Chelsea and Manchester United. So, when we come to big matches, Arsenal loses the nerves and falls down a step below. In this occasion, you agree or not, but the truth is there is only one player who can rise above the standards and that is Cesc Fabregas.
Now, coming to our hero Nasri, he is just growing in the shadow of Cesc and yet to prove himself at Arsenal or any bigger level. Playing against Olympiacos and Standard (they are good teams but not...to the level) may fetch Arsenal wins and scoring against them is easy, but the exam fever comes when you can score against a team like Barcelona.
And can Nasri show his skills here?
At present, he is a weakness at the heart of Wenger (weakness on the pitch combined) and plays the games for the Gunners, sweats and runs a lot, runs and runs, passes, and finally no such impressive eye catching impacts!!!
Are we running a go-run-sweat-come show? If yes, then claps, claps, claps.
Whilst being very good at his former club Marseille, he is still now one of the just-above-the-average players of Wenger's Montessory. Yet to prove his talents, can this guy really afford to be called "the Little Zizou???"
Finally, when so many talks around the corner about Cesc to leave Arsenal and join Barca next season, what will be the immediate condition of Wenger's squad is a sure massacre?
And does Nasri have the guts to guide his team in such situations, or will he be the focal point of the massacre???
In a nutshell, Samir Nasri is a fine player but not lived up to the expectations as he was thought to be, and ended up as another hype in the play. Maybe one day he can prove his worth really and we all hope to see so, but 'till then it is better not to rate him as one of the greatest.
'Till then, it is better to talk about other promising underdogs and rising ones like James Milner who has wiped the season in EPL.
PS: If you trust in Wenger, then leave your comments. (LOL)
