Is This the New Arsenal Kit for 2010/11?

Jamrock RoverMar 18, 2010

I'm writing this blog wishing I was in bed after eight hours of St. Patrick's day celebrations and I'm dreading the thought of a 12 hour working day today.

I managed to catch the Barcelona game in the pub as I was taking advantage of being Irish on the most Irish day of all. Messi looked very good to me and I'm sure they have to be favourites to retain the Champions League trophy now. Bordeaux also made it through to the last eight and our supposed summer signing, Chamakh, got the second goal in their 2-1 win.

It means that we will face one of the following seven clubs in the quarterfinals: "Manure," Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, CSKA Moscow, Lyon and Bordeaux. I'm not too bothered who we play as I still think the Premier league is the main priority but I suppose I would like to avoid Barcelona and "Manure" for the moment anyway.

The money on offer for progressing at this stage is huge and the more we get the better, although money isn't the biggest factor for Arsenal signing players this summer as we already have a large unused transfer kitty.

Anyway, there are pictures everywhere of what is seen as possibly our new kit for next season and as most other people have said I would be quite happy to go with the retro look. If it is the new kit, it will be a one off for our 125th anniversary which will occur in 2011 and there will be another new first kit the following season, just as there was with the "redberry" kit in the season that we left Highbury.

It's a good marketing ploy by the club and Nike as there is only supposed to be a new first kit every second season, but special occasions like anniversaries allow them to introduce a new one after a year. Here's a look at what's being bandied about as the new kit anyway.

The good news on the field today is that Cesc has apparently returned to training and it looks like we might see him playing at home to West Ham on Saturday. If he does play it will be a great boost to the team and I'm sure he'll inspire us to a handsome victory.

The reserves beat Wolves 1-0 last night with Coquelin getting the goal, which means that they is still a chance of winning their league, although Aston Villa are still in the best position to win as they are on top and two points ahead of us with a game in hand.

Luke Ayling has joined Yeovil on a month's loan and I hope it works out well for him as he is yet another promising prospect for the future.

That's the lot for today as I'm up to my neck in work but I should have a lot more to say tomorrow and on Saturday as we build up to the next installment in our bid to win the league.

Here's a clip of our trip to West Ham in the FA Cup in January.

See You Tomorrow.
