With Derek Anderson Out the Door In Cleveland, Is Brady Quinn Next?
First, let me congratulate former Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson for picking a completely different way to leave his team than Jake Delhomme did a few days earlier.
Instead of going with the Kleenex, tears, sniffles and all out sobbing, Anderson decided to give Browns' fans a parting shot. A cheap shot that former Oregon running back LaGarrett Blount would be proud of.
After being cut by the team on Tuesday, after five years in "The Dog Pound," Anderson unleashed a right cross that apparently landed better than he thought it would.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"The fans are ruthless and don't deserve a winner," Anderson said in an email to the Willoughby News-Herald . "I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn't great. I hope and pray I'm playing when my team comes to town and (we) roll them."
So much for leaving gracefully, Derek. After receiving backlash from Browns fans, though, I doubt most of them cared for the guy anyway, Anderson tried to back down but did admit that his comments were not taken out of context and that he was speaking out of frustration. Gotta give credit to the guy for not using the worn out "taken out of context" line and owning up to what he said.
I know Anderson was upset about being cut but to come crawling back with his head hung in shame and apologizing is even worse, in my own humble opinion. If he meant the comment exactly the way it read, own it. They don't like you, you don't like them, just own up to it. Maybe Derek should have hired Tiger as an apology speech writer, it might have gone over a little better. Then again, maybe not.
After Anderson's apology speech, news comes out that he may not be the only quarterback headed out of Cleveland. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com , the Browns could be looking to move Brady Quinn as well. Only, you'll never guess who could be on his way in, none other than the bumbling mess of Kleenex himself, Jake Delhomme.
Yes, the same Jake Delhomme that only a few days earlier was a watery mess as he held a press conference to say goodbye to the Carolina Panthers. You would have thought the guy was making a retirement speech but no, Delhomme had just been cut.
Not only are the Browns interested in Delhomme and apparently had him in for a visit on Thursday, but they've already added former Seahawks quarterback Seneca Wallace as well as already having Brett Ratliff. If Delhomme is signed, that's almost a sure sign that Cleveland has all but given up on Quinn, a first round (22nd pick) draft pick of the Browns in 2007.
While there's no indication that a trade of Quinn is imminent, it is known that the Browns have shopped him around to other teams but who those teams are remains unknown. As for Derek Anderson, there's talk that he could be brought in by the Arizona Cardinals to either challenge former USC quarterback Matt Leinart for the job or to be the starter if the Cardinals have no faith in Leinart as their franchise guy.
A merry-go-round of quarterbacks in Cleveland will just get more interesting as the next few days and weeks go on. With Delhomme possibly signing, Quinn being traded and Anderson signing elsewhere, will the Browns ever find their man?
Maybe the Browns will always be the bridesmaid and never the bride.
