Champs League: Manchester Too Strong For Ageing Milan

Zaakir HoosenMar 10, 2010

Many mark this phase in the Champions League as England vs Italy, with two English Super Powers taking on two if Italy's Great Teams.

But for now we turn our attention to Old Trafford for what we hope will be a mouth watering encounter.

Have United done enough to ensure a quarter-final spot or will Milan put up a fight for an eight European crown.

After an exciting first leg that saw Wayne Rooney come out on top, many questions has to be asked about Milan's great but aging players.

United are a fit side that plays day in and day out in the English league which has to be the fasters league in world football, whereas Milan are more of a tactical outfit, and against a young United side could find themselves lacking in the speed department and could be worn out after two thirds of the game.

Will the likes of Nesta, Ambrosini, Jankulovski be able to handle the pace of Valencia, Nani and Rooney.

Another factor that will come into play is whether Leonardo will start with Beckham or will he leave all emotions aside and go for the kill. Beckham's lack of pace and ability to see out 90 minutes could force the coach to bring him on as a sub, but does he have that impact that maybe Seedorf of Gattuso will provide.

Not doubting the ability and skill of AC Milan, and that resilliance, patience and apetitie for Big Games. But do they have enough fire power to to on a blazing performance that will rattle a rather good young ambitious United team.

If there's anyone who can turn on the magic, is Brazilian maestro Ronaladhino. In the first half of the first leg he showed why he was the World Footballer, but in the second half he showed that, that was a couple years ago.

If Ronaldhino has any weaknesses its definitely his lack of defensive ability, time and time again in lost the ball and made no real attempt to regain possession. Which means the central midfielders have to work extra hard.

But Milan isn't all about grey hairs, they have in recent years introduced a few youngsters to the squad who have great ability and growing in maturing. Pato, Flamini and Hunterlaar are few of those youngsters looking to take the mantle.

So looking ahead to the big clash, will Rooney run riot? Will Beckham silence Old Trafford?

No matter who wins, and who progresses to the next stage...We in for a spectacle!
