Mbappé's Rollercoaster Season 🎢

Could John Terry's Actions Cost Chelsea the Premier League Title?

Andrew JordanMar 1, 2010

In what has been an extremely bizarre season so far in the Premier League, with top sides losing nearly every week, Chelsea still currently hold a lead in the Premier League of one point over three time defending league champions Manchester United, and a three-point lead over a resurgent Arsenal side.

So far this season, Chelsea have been able to beat both of these sides three times overall in the Premier League, and are clearly the best side on paper, but the Pensioners have also lost points to the likes of Wigan, West Ham, Birmingham City and Hull City this season.

But more recently, Chelsea have now lost matches to Everton and Manchester City in the Premier League, and have also lost to Inter Milan 2-1 in the Champions League, one must wonder what could really be the major problem at Stamford Bridge.

The answer is the captain of the Pensioners himself: John Terry.

Ever since the news of his affair with Vanessa Perroncel, who was former Chelsea and England teammate Wayne Bridge's girlfriend at the time, much controversy has followed Terry as he lost the captain's armband for England, and has seen his form drop on the pitch.

Terry was the main reason why Chelsea have been below standard during the month of February, and now have seen what appeared to be a certain title lock now become uncertain with just three points separating the Blues from third.

Throughout February, Terry was not able to be effective, and gave up many great chances for sides such as Everton and Manchester City to capitalize on as they won their respective matches.

Despite getting time off to go to Dubai on Valentine's Day to be with his wife Toni and his two children to save their marriage, Terry still has not been the same player, and his play has already cost Chelsea big in the last several matches.

Now that March has rolled around, Chelsea now have key matches against Inter and Aston Villa before the big one, at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Apr. 3.

Right now, this is the make-or-break part of each club's season, and Chelsea are poised to collapse right in front of our eyes unless they can get John Terry back to his old self.
