Aftermath of the Horrendous Ramsey Injury: A Tribute

Rahul G-SaurusFeb 28, 2010

Arsenal inched closer to the Premier League title with a tough fought win at Britannia stadium. But it was a painful night for most of the Arsenal supporters as well as for those with a little humanity left in them.

In a span of less than four years, Arsenal have dealt with three broken leg cases, including the one of Aaron Ramsey last evening. It's not a mere coincidence as some would suggest, in fact Arsenal are always on the receiving end of such horrendous and terribly mistimed tackles. No other club has suffered similar injuries in such a short span of time.

I can hear lot of 50/50 arguments going around, but nobody can defend Ryan Shawcross' wild lunge. However, Tony Pulis had the courage to defend his under-fire defender immediately after the game, and understandably so.

Arsene Wenger is completely shaken off and he couldn't believe that Shawcross was handed only a three-match ban. He was furious and branded the tackle as horrendous. What else can he do? He complained about the "anti-Arsenal" play a long time ago, but he got a label of whiner, nothing more or less.

Shawcross himself left the field in tears after being shown a straight red card for the "career-threatening" challenge. Nobody can afford to show sympathy towards Shawcross except the Stoke City fans though.

Some of the mindless hobs have already turned up with the "Shawcross-version" of the challenge, tagging him as the most innocent player England have ever produced. Just pity on those cold-blooded mucks.

Eduardo suffered a similar injury in 2008, when he was at his prime. Martin Taylor of Birmingham City was the culprit, and he escaped without any harsh punishment. It has happened again, and it will happen again if the English FA fails to make any strong statement after this grievous incident.

Interestingly, Abou Diaby, Eduardo, and Ramsey were all tackled by Englishmen. It's coincidence, isn't it?

Take a look at how Diaby and Eduardo are struggling with niggling injuries after their comebacks and guess what's awaiting Ramsey when he returns to the Premier League circle after recovering from this mighty setback that he suffered at the tender age of 19.

And back to Eduardo for a moment, recollect the furore and the outburst caused by Eduardo's dive against Celtic to earn a penalty. UEFA then went on to investigate and did everything to ban him from a couple of games but in vain though. If that's not enough, then recall the rage caused by William Gallas tackle against Bolton. He was tagged as a thug.

Furthermore, recall the Samir Nasri stomp against Hull City. The Pundits and the "Anti-Arsenal horde" were calling for the head of Nasri and Wenger for a stomp that wasn't dangerous enough to scathe a kindergarten kid, let alone the strong footy players. Call it hypocrisy!

Premier League has reached a new low after the injury to Ramsey and don't be surprised if someone terms the current scenario as "Arsenal vs rest of the League".

If you can't play like Arsenal then kick them out of the park—the buzzword of Big Sam and Gary Megson. Teams are openly stating that they won't shy away from kicking Arsenal out of the game, hoping it would be enough to unsettle the passing rhythm. What a great idea!

After all, The ultimate sufferer is Ramsey. He will be out for a year or two, and the team lost one of their most talented starlets at a crucial point.

For Shawcross it's another "mistimed tackle". He has issued an apology and shed tears to attract the sympathy of some. He has got the safety blanket of Fabio Capello too. What a secure feeling! Bloody goon.

What can be done about this? Look at it. Shed tears. Wish a speedy recovery. Curse the "tackling-expert" and move on until a similar situation occurs again. Then again repeat the cycle.

P.S: Ramsey, Please come back stronger than ever. We'll miss you, and I mean it.
