2010 NFL Mock Draft: Version 1.0 (updated)
1. Rams - Ndamukong Suh - DT - Nebraska
When looking at the first three picks of each draft dating back to 2001, a defensive player has only been drafted ahead of a QB twice. In those instances, the draftee was a 4-3 DE.
Mario Williams was selected ahead of Vince Young in 2006, and Chris Long was selected ahead of Matt Ryan in 2008. If the Rams could turn back the hands of time and do things all over again, who do you think their pick would be? Now that the logical points are out there, I have to go against the historical trend and place Suh here. There is just too much good press on Suh vs. question marks around Clausen not to go with him.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
2. Lions - *Gerald McCoy- DT - Oklahoma
The Lions' defense surrendered close to 400 yards per game this past season. McCoy is one of the best players in the draft and taking him would really help out Detroit's defensive front.
3. Buccaneers - *Eric Berry - S - Tennessee
The obvious need is to address their D-Line. Teams were able to decimate the Bucs on the ground, having averaged more than 150 yards per game, and totaled 25 runs for 20+ yards. However, they need to go in a different direction with Suh and McCoy off the board.
4. Redskins - *Jimmy Clausen - QB - Notre Dame
Daniel Snyder will be looking for a new signal caller with a big name. And I imagine Shanahan will want "his guy" as well. I think Clausen is better than Bradford and that will be seen throughout the evaluation process.
5. Chiefs - Russell Okung - OT - Oklahoma State
The Chiefs desperately need help at OT, as they allowed 43 sacks this season. Scott Pioli believes in building his teams up front, which was shown in last year's draft when he selected DE Tyson Jackson with the third overall pick. Okung had a strong year and is the top Senior OT on almost every board out there.
6. Seahawks - *Sam Bradford - QB - Oklahoma
An OT is an option here, but I have a sneaking suspicion that ole' Pete would love the chance to get his hands on a young, talented QB.
7. Browns - *Joe Haden - CB - Florida
Holmgren is the new sheriff in town and he'll rebuild this team how he sees fit. When looking at his last three drafts with Seattle, two of his three first round picks were used on CBs. Haden is the best CB in the draft and would help out a pass defense that ranked 29th in the league, producing only 10 INTs.
8. Raiders - *Anthony Davis - OT - Rutgers
Many folks have a DE like Morgan, Dunlap, or Griffen slated to get taken here. However, Big Al hasn't targeted DEs early on in the recent past. Tom Cable is a former O-Line coach that just watched his team give up 49 sacks on the season, so he should be bucking for an OT here. Davis is a massive kid that should impress Al Davis with his size.
9. Bills - *Bryan Bulaga - OT - Iowa
The Bills surrendered 46 Sacks on the season and their passing game was often a joke because of it. Bulaga had some struggles holding up against brute strength at times, but he has the makings of a good future LT.
10. Broncos (via Bears) - *Rolando McClain - LB - Alabama
If brandon marshal not release by the broncos, and i dont think he will be. the position they have a need in is the middle linebacker position. the clearly pick for them would be mcclain.
11. Jaguars - *Derrick Morgan - DE - Georgia Tech
The Jags only produced 14 sacks on the season. As would follow, they gave up way too many yards through the air. If this team could regain its fire power, fans would start to come back.
12. Dolphins - *Dez Bryant - WR - Oklahoma State rumers has it that the miami dolphins are intersested in karlos dansby , if they sign dansby they will longer have any nedd in the middle linbacker postion. They use this pick to draft they star in the making widereceiver dez bryant.
13. 49ers - Trent Williams - OT - Oklahoma
The 49ers could wait until round two or three to grab a RT if they think they're set at LT with Joe Staley. However, Williams may be better than Staley with time and the eventual starter at LT, so they pull the trigger on him here.
14. Seahawks (via Broncos) - Taylor Mays - S - USC
The Seahawks' pass defense finished 30th in the league in terms of yards allowed per game. To say that they're lacking in this department would be an understatement. They could use a boost at the Safety position. While pass coverage isn't Mays' strong suit, I think we'd see a player-coach reunion here if the opportunity presents itself.
15. Giants - *Brian Price - DT - UCLA
I'm not sure how much longer Barry Cofield is going to be around. Outside of that concern, the Giants' D-line didn't always impress down the stretch. Price is a very underrated prospect that had a few games this past season where he looked just as menacing as Gerald McCoy.
16. 49ers (via Panthers) - Dan Williams - NT/DT - Tennessee
Vince Wilfork will be franchised, while Casey Hampton is 32 years old. That makes NT Aubrayo Franklin a very hot commodity amongst the 3-4 community. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 49ers lose him. If they do, they'll need to fill his shoes.
17. Titans - *Jason Pierre-Paul - DE - South Florida
The Titans are horrible against the pass. While Cortland Finnegan is solid on one side of the field, Nick Harper is over the hill at the other spot and has the woeful Roderick Hood backing him up. So, they could target a CB here. However, DE will also be a pressing concern for them. JPP will have a a great combine and cement himself into round one.
18. Steelers - *Earl Thomas - S - Texas
The Steelers could go with an OT here, but I'm not sure that there's one available here that brings more to the table overall than Thomas does. Thomas is a talented ball hawk that could play at FS or CB.
19. Falcons - Kyle Wilson - CB - Boise State
The Falcons are one of the worst teams in the league against the pass, especially when it comes down to giving up pass plays that are 20+ yards. Wilson was fantastic during Senior Bowl week and should flash in Indy.
20. Texans - Sean Weatherspoon - LB - Missouri
The Texans' running game needs some help, but this draft is chalked full of RB talent that can be had in rounds two-four. The Texans struck it big with Cushing in 2009, and could do so again with Weatherspoon in 2010. Weatherspoon would be an upgrade over Diles and would help form one of the best LB corps in the NFL.
21. Bengals - *Carlos Dunlap - DE - Florida
After watching the Jets run for 170+ yards on them in the playoffs, one would think that some D-line help has to be on the Bengals' radar at some point in the draft. While Dunlap is listed as a DE, he saw time at DT in certain schemes and could help out there as well.
22. Patriots - C.J. Spiller - RB - Clemson
The Patriots excel at adding talent, and Spiller would be another illustration of that. He also happens to fill a need, as their current stable of backs is rapidly aging.
23. Packers - *Bruce Campbell - OT - Maryland
While I understand that the Packers' O-line has had their share of injuries, they simply have to get more talent in the pass protection realm. Rodgers does have to learn when to get rid of the ball, but a franchise OT would be ideal here.
24. Eagles - Sergio Kindle - OLB - Texas
With all the injuries at LB this season, I think the Eagles would be inclined to grab a solid LB if one falls to them. Kindle is a versatile prospect that can play up as a SLB or with his hand in the dirt as a DE if ever needed.
25. Ravens -*Arrelious Benn - WR - Illinois
After Derrick Mason, what does this team have in terms of proven WRs that can really perform? While Benn's most recent season was a let down by all standards, this is a big, fast kid that will climb the charts and find his way into round one.
26. Cardinals - Brandon Graham - DE/OLB - Michigan
Graham followed up his tremendous season with an outstanding Senior Bowl week. While undersized, the kid can't be denied and is a serious backfield threat. Bertrand Berry just retired and Chike Okeafor will follow suit sooner vs. later. OLB is a need for this team.
27. Cowboys - Mike Iupati - OG - Idaho
Colombo looked horrible against the Vikes in their playoff game, while Kyle Kosier is just so-so in my book. Some feel that Iupati could threaten to take on either starting spot. I'd tend to agree.
28. Chargers - *Golden Tate - WR - Notre Dame
Floyd and Jackson formed a good tandem last season, but the depth beyond those two isn't real deep. With that said, the Chargers may end up losing Jackson to free agency. Tate gives them some immediate insurance.
29. Jet - *Everson Griffen - DE - USC
I believe that the Jets will be looking for some 3-4 DE help in this draft. While Griffen is known for his great size/speed blend, this is a stout 280 pound kid that has the ability to pack on even more muscle and get big enough to play the role for the Jets.
30. Vikings - *Maurkice Pouncey - C - Florida
A CB or DT is a possibility, but I wasn't impressed with John Sullivan this past season. Since this is not a deep draft in terms of Center talent, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pouncey go in round one.
31. Colts - Jared Odrick - DT/DE - Penn State
The Colts' defense is improved, but they could still use more help throughout. Odrick looked great during the entire Senior Bowl process and could help bolster this team's D-Line.
32. Saints - Ricky Sapp - OLB - Clemson
The Saints would have an opportunity here to add a gifted LB, so they take advantage of it. They pick up Sapp who happened to play DE in college, but is best suited for an OLB role.
