HESTER DON'T STOP BELIEVING
First off I would like to state that I do feel that moving Hester to the slot is a good move. I just want to show that Hester is not worth giving up on yet.
Devin Hester has been in the NFL for four years now. He spent his first year as a CB and return specialist. He spent his next year as a backup reciever. Then his following two years as a full time reciever playing in 28 games as a full time reciever. In this time he has amassed a total of 128 receptions for 1721 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Devin Hesters career at Miami was a joke. He got moved to many different positions from offense to defense to special teams without ever being truely allowed to settle into a position. So when Devin came into the NFL he spent his first year learning how to be a CB. Then he has spent the last three learning how to be a WR.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Also similar to another one of the NFL's top recieving threats over the last decade. When Hines Ward came into the league he had never played WR before. He was a college QB for Georgia. Hines Ward spent his first season as a WR playing backup. Then he spent his next two years being a starting WR for the Pittsburgh Steelers starting in 29 games. Over that period of time Ward amassed 124 receptions for 1556 yards and 11 touchdowns. Those are pretty similar stats to me. I as a Chicago Bears fan would be very happy to see Devin Hester's career to be as successful and established as that of Hines Ward, and I don't think there are any Bears fans out there that would argue with that.
Devin Hester's three years as a receiver however have been with three different quarterbacks. Two quarterbacks that were not any where near top talents, and the most recent quarterback who he will soon be going into his second season with.
He has also spent those years under offensive coordinator Ron Turner who was a joke. Ron Turner should be lining up to recieve an unemployment check season after season right behind John Shoop. That is because neither one of them belongs in charge of any teams offense. Mike Martz however has proven that he is an offensive mastermind, and he is very respected around the NFL as such. I personally believe that with Mike Martz at the helm gives our offense the best opportunity to comete
I'm not here to say that Devin Hester is going to be as good as Hines Ward. I am simply here to point out that Devin Hester is too talented and has too much potential to give up on him after two seasons as a starter.
