Saints Win Super Bowl: Tracy Porter Saw Peyton Manning's Face on Pick-Six Return
If there was ever a time to hand out another co-MVP award at a Super Bowl, it would have been at Super Bowl XLIV.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees won MVP honors for the game due to his stellar statistical performance, leadership, and poise to keep the Saints in the game when they were down.
Brees was 32-of-39 passing for 288 yards and two touchdowns in the 31-17 victory.

Another player who was equally deserving of the MVP honor, though, was Saints cornerback Tracy Porter, who stopped all the momentum Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis offense had in their comeback attempt by jumping in front of receiver Reggie Wayne's route and intercepting a fourth quarter pass.
Porter has told the media that he owes the pick-six to his dedication to film study.
Porter said he was able to read the formation pre-snap, then saw that Manning was staring down Wayne from the snap of the ball, and he read it all the way, up to the moment when he jumped the route and the ball was in his hands.
Once Porter had the ball in his hands, it was off to the races on his way to the end zone for a touchdown that put the game away for the Saints, giving them their first-ever Super Bowl championship and Lombardi Trophy.
"I could see a little expression on his face that he was pretty upset," Porter said, according to Profootballtalk.com.
"He was upset that he threw it. He was trying to come in hot pursuit of me, but Will Smith got a great block on Peyton and allowed me to cut back. Once I got past Peyton, there was no looking back."
Porter was definitely the savior for the Saints, and Brees should be sharing that MVP trophy with the second-year player, who was coincidentally born in Louisiana.
Even though Porter was able to put the nail in the coffin against Manning and the Colts, he said that although he still admires Manning, he is also happy that he was the one who stopped the future Hall of Famer from winning his second Super Bowl.
