Tennessee Vols Football: It's National Signing Day 2010!
Yes, I realize this day is probably far too important to many in the southeastern United States. Yes, I realize it is borderline pathetic for 30-year-olds to follow 18-year-olds around, begging the high school kid to “pick my team.”
But just because it’s pathetic doesn’t mean I won't partake.
I’m not above following every tweet, facebook update, etc. Of course, my dream job actually consists of doing those things on a daily basis.
You see, I want a career covering sports. I realize I would have to lay down my loyalties to certain teams that I’ve been cheering on for most of my life, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay.
So I look at covering the shady, seedy world of recruiting as training for what I hope is just around the corner for me.
College football is a year-round sport now.
It officially begins with spring practice in March and April. Then the players take a two month break. Then it’s back onto the field in late July and early August for fall practice.
That practice period leads into the regular season. You know, the time when the games are actually played!
From there we have non-stop postseason action beginning in the second week of December and lasting through the first week of January.
Then National Signing Day then comes during the first week of February, and a month or so later it’s back to spring practice again.
That pretty much covers what a college football writer/blogger has to cover during the year. But it doesn’t include all that goes with recruiting, rumors, and coaching changes.
I will say this, however: If I’ve had this much fun covering it all for free, I can't imagine what getting paid to write about this stuff would be like.
Now back to the blog.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, National Signing Day.
What will happen in Knoxville? Will the Vols finish with a top 5 class?
How about the rest of the south? Which big time athletes will go where?
Stay tuned right here for all the lastest breaking news concerning Tennessee’s 2010 recruiting class.

I will also be posting stories throughout the day right here on the Bleacher Report.
