Washington Capitals-Boston Bruins: Unleash the Fury and Set a Franchise Record
In a sloppy first period by the Washington Capitals vs. the Boston Bruins, goalie Jose Theodore was simply brilliant.
Despite giving up a goal at 6:58 into the first period to David Krejci (10) on a 5-3 power play for the Bruins, Theodore would shut the door and not allow another goal, despite the aggressive play of the desperate B's.
The game looked lopsided if you simply glanced at the final score; it doesn't tell the tale of two franchises that are headed in distinctively different directions.

The Caps set a franchise record with their 11 straight win, while the Bruins fell to 1-8-2 in their last 11 games.
After weathering the storm of the first period the Capitals looked as if they were on the power play for the first half of the second.
They were constantly in the attack and zone and pressuring goalie Tim Thomas, who did all he could to try and keep his struggling team in the lead.
It was all for naught though, Mike Knuble scored on a tip in with an assist from Tom Potie in just 2:08 into the second period.
The B's were a desperate team and you could see that in all 42 of their shots. Despite early pressure and a goal by the Caps early in the second period the Bruins kept the pressure on Theodore who was simply "Feeling It."
The way Jose played tonight, it wouldn't have surprised me if he had decided to play the third period with a blindfold on. He was just in the zone, and despite so many shots that seemed destined for the back he turned away 41 of 42.
The tie would last until 5:04 into the third when Brooks Laich would score his 17th goal of the season with the assist from Alexander Semin.
Just over two minutes later, Boyd Gordon (2) would add the Caps third goal, and, just for good measure, Alexander Ovechkin would score his 36th goal in the empty net.
To me, this was the type of win the Caps needed. Throughout out this streak, they were pretty dominant and needed to come from behind and find a way to win.
This was a character building win for the team. This is the type of game they can look back on when they find themselves behind later in the year. They know, despite being out shot, that they can overcome that and have a decisive win.
