Race to New Orleans: Week 10 College FB Preview
While most people are relaxing on a nice Saturday, college football fans are sitting on the edge of their seats.
With several pivotal games on tap, Saturday promises to clear up the BCS picture.
Who'll come out on top? Here's the rundown on the weekend's biggest matchups...
No. 1 Ohio State vs. Wisconsin
When the Badgers were undefeated, this would have been a game worth watching.
But after lady luck changed her address earlier in the season, the Badgers have been just trying to find some momentum.
The Buckeyes haven't been talked about a lot this season as opposed to last season, but they don't really care. Even without Ted Ginn Jr. or Troy Smith in the lineup, Ohio State is talking about the Big Ten and BCS Championship once again.
The Buckeyes will win this one at home and prepare for the invasion of Ron Zook and his Illini—as well as the showdown in the Big House against Michigan.
Prediction: Buckeyes 34, Badgers 14
No. 2 Boston College vs. Florida State
The most surprising team of the season is ranked No. 2, not No. 1.
The Eagles have found ways to win—and contrary to what the so-called experts say, Matt Ryan is having a Heisman season.
In fact, this is the perfect game to silence critics.
The Seminoles may be getting focused on their annual Governor's Cup Game with Florida, but despite all the personal issues off the field, Florida State looks just as dangerous now as they have in season's past.
If anyone can give the Eagles a little trouble on their road to the ACC Championship and a possible berth in the BCS title game, it's Florida State.
This is the game where we find out if Matt Ryan can "stomach" (no pun intended) heavy-duty pressure. The 'Noles are no easy task—but if BC wins this one, expect to see them in New Orleans in January.
Prediction: Eagles 27, Seminoles 20
No. 3 LSU vs. No. 17 Alabama
This is one of the games of the week for multiple reasons.
First off, the Tigers and Tide always leave it all out on the field. This makes for either big scoring or nailbiting scoring.
Second, a Tide victory puts them in the thick of the SEC West race. A loss for LSU takes them out of the BCS Championship Race.
But the biggest reason for this is game can be summed up in two words: Nick Saban.
That's right, kids. The man who gave LSU their only national championship returns...only to coach against them.
I could see Alabama winning this game, which is why I'm picking the Tide to clean house. Sorry LSU, but sometimes, it's better to let sleeping dogs lie. Unfortunately, this isn't Death Valley, and Saban's got your number.
Prediction: Crimson Tide 31, Tigers 24
No. 6 Arizona State vs. No. 4 Oregon
Another game of the week comes to us from Eugene, Oregon.
The Ducks shocked the Trojans last week, and the Sun Devils continued their march to the Pac-10 title.
I'll admit, I underestimated these pesky Devils from Arizona. As I've said before, they haven't been this good since...the days of Jake "The Snake" Plummer.
Only then, they didn't have a computer deciding their fate. If the Devils can come out of Duck Country with a win, they will win the Pac 10 Championship. If Oregon can win this one, expect an impromptu tiebreaker game.
But rest assured, this won't be the last time these two teams meet this season. Until then, I'm calling another upset, but not the one you think.
Prediction: Ducks 27, Sun Devils 21
No. 8 Kansas vs. Nebraska
The Jayhawks are winning games...and it's not even basketball season yet.
Kansas is taking over the Big 12 and is on a collision course with Oklahoma for the championship.
Many would overlook the Cornhuskers, but I'm one not to shy away from any team.
Nebraska has played spoiler to a lot of undefeated teams before. They couldn't get Tom Osborne back on the sidelines, but they still have a chance to get a good bowl game.
The Hawks will win this one, but it won't be easy.
Prediction: Jayhawks 31, Huskers 21
No. 9 Missouri vs. Colorado
The Tigers have only one loss this season, and that's a good thing. Depending on what happens between the Hawks and Huskers, the Tigers could get some much-needed help.
Unfortunately, it's hard to call this game because it's my old school (CU) and my home state (Missouri) locking horns. To make it even more interesting, I've been the one that has been voting Mizzou and Colorado into the Bleacher Polls every week.
This game is in Folsom Prison, and it's anyone's game when it's played there. Colorado pulled off one upset there earlier with the victory over Oklahoma. I think they have another up their sleeve.
Every game in the Big 12 matters this week because they all have championship implications. If Mizzou wants to win this one, they have to put pressure on Cody Hawkins.
Otherwise, Johnny Cash will be smiling again.
Prediction: Buffs 30, Tigers 27

Arkansas 30, No. 23 South Carolina 17
