TNA Is Making a Change
Well, I watched Impact tonight and for the most part it was a great show, proof that TNA realizes that they have a chance to challenge WWE.
In this article I will look at the Good and the Bad of TNA.
The Good
In the past couple of months TNA has slowly started to improve. I mean, look, they're traveling more—heck the UK tour sold out. Their Pay-Per-Views are slowly improving, and Impact's ratings are now surpassing ECW's.
That's saying a lot for a company that only a year and a half ago was running one-hour shows with nothing but three-minute matches and 20-minute interviews. Impact started as a joke, and has become a generally solid weekly show.
TNA has so many advantages over WWE. Their women's division is far better than that of the WWE. The same can be said for the TNA tag division. If TNA wants to be an alternative to WWE they need to keep their talent above, or at least at the same level as their former WWE talent.
Samoa Joe is the face of TNA, as it should be. I hope to see AJ Styles and eventually Christopher Daniels become the top star of TNA.
TNA is on its way to being at the same level as WWE. All they have to do is start taking themselves a little more seriously.
The Bad
I'm not saying TNA is flawless. There are still a bunch of problems they must address.
TNA continues to put WWE/WCW talent above their own. I mean, as I write this I'm watching Kevin Nash vs. Booker T on Impact. Two WCW/WWE stars are main eventing their show. Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels [not Curry Man] should be main eventing the show. Or at least mix it up. Say, AJ vs. Kurt Angle—that would be a nice TNA Impact match.
They also continue to mock WWE, making themselves look weak. I saw a video of a backstage interviewer talking to a Mr. McMahon impersonator. This makes TNA look so second rate, and they have all the tools to be a great promotion.
Like I said above, TNA needs to start taking itself more seriously. No more "Stone Cold" Shark Boy, "Macho Man" Jay Lethal, "Guru" Sonja Dutt, and Curry Man. If you're going to give your superstar a ridiculous gimmick, at least come up with a new one. Not some lame rip-off.
I have hope for TNA. I find myself actually looking forward to Impact by Thursday night. Trust me people, that's a good thing, that's a very good thing.
Post a comment below. I want your opinions about what you think TNA needs to do to make itself a worthy challenge to WWE.
