Is Cristiano Ronaldo Missing Manchester United?

Andrew JordanDec 31, 2009

Over this past decade, Manchester United have been one of the best sides in the entire world, as they have won six Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two Carling Cups, a FIFA Club World Cup, and have been to two Champions League finals, one of them in which they won on penalties over Chelsea in 2008.

Also during the last decade, Manchester United have had many of the most talented footballers on the planet, as the likes of players such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ryan Giggs, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney, and Rio Ferdinand, among others, have helped Manchester United throughout this decade.

But arguably, the most talented player that Manchester United have had this decade is Cristiano Ronaldo, who became one of the best footballers in the world during his time at Man United from 2003-2009, before leaving Man United for Spanish giant Real Madrid in June in a record £80 million transfer.

Since Ronaldo has left in June, Man United have still been able to have success, as they find themselves second in the table at the end of 2009, and have maintained their success in the Champions League this season by finishing first in Group C.

Meanwhile for Ronaldo, he was able to score in his first four La Liga matches for Real Madrid, and has also been able to score six times for Real in the Champions League this season.

But in recent weeks, Ronaldo has started to talk about how much he misses Manchester United.

The first instance was back on Sept. 22, as Ronaldo stated that he still watches Man United on TV, and that he watches "nearly every match."

On Oct. 30, Ronaldo told the media that he wants his former Man United teammate Wayne Rooney to join him at Real "to continue their great work together at Manchester United."

Then on Dec. 22, Ronaldo stated that he still missed Manchester United "a little bit" during the FIFPro World XI press conference.

And most recently, in a statement to the Spanish newspaper Marca on Dec. 30, Ronaldo asked for the Real Madrid fans to become louder and support the team whenever they are losing, and they should become more like the Manchester United supporters against rivals such as Manchester City and Liverpool.

Finally, just under a year and a half ago, Cristiano Ronaldo started his romance with Real Madrid, but could it be possible that his real favorite club to play for is Manchester United?
