Arsenal Player Ratings vs. Hull City

Callum D'SouzaDec 20, 2009

It was always going to be a tough task for the Arsenal faithful, taking on a tough Hull side without their fearless leader and midfield maestro, Cesc Fabregas.

But after a relatively slow start and a few heated arguments, Wenger's men found their feet and began to play elegant, fast, attacking football. Three terrific goals and a strong comeback after their shock draw with Burnley.

Manuel Almunia: 7: After being handed some heavy criticism of recent times, the Spaniard did dish out a small serving of humble pie. A good stop to deny Hull a goal from a penalty and a couple of other strong efforts followed.

Emmanuel Eboue: 6.5: Solid defending down the right flank and did well to keep the feisty Stephen Hunt at bay. The Ivorian was also a strong contributor in attack.

William Gallas: 6.5: Handled the Hull attack reasonably well and showed good strength in both air and ground.

Thomas Vermaelen: 7: The Belgium defender worked hard as usual and did his job well. Threw himself at everything and dealt with Craig Fagan nicely. A deserved clean sheet.

Mikael Silvestre: 6: Almost cost Arsenal a goal when a harsh decision went Hull's way. Performed credibly as a temporary left back and also made his presence felt in attack.

Alexandre Song: 7: The usual from the Cameroonian star. Cut down the Hull midfielding advances with ease and then offered very strong services in attack.

Denilson: 7: Arsenal were lacking a genuine free kick taker with the absence of Robin van Persie and Fabregas, but up stepped Denilson and scored a stunning free kick goal. Also made a number of vital tackles.

Abou Diaby: 8: A sensational performance from the lanky Frenchman. His strength and power were all too much as Diaby ran wild, assisting with the second goal and then engraving his name on the score sheet with a fine effort.

Samir Nasri: 6.5: Received a push to the face and a number of comments from the Hull players after a sneaky stamp on Richard Garcia, but apart from that incident, was quite dangerous showing good balance and pace.

Andrei Arshavin: 7: Tireless worker in attack, creating chances and trying hard to find the back of the net. A good effort.

Eduardo Da Silva: 6.5: Good to finally see the Croatian finally make the score sheet. But still too wasteful with his chances and lacking in confidence. A few good runs, though.

Substitutes

Aaron Ramsey: 6: Unlucky not to have a goal with a good long range effort.

Theo Walcott: 6: A little clumsy and lackluster but did bring a bit more pace to the Arsenal attack.

Carlos Vela: N/A: Once again, Wenger only gives Vela a few minutes.
