Baylor Bears Drop 38-3 Decision in Annual Battle of The Brazos

Denton RamseyNov 23, 2009

With their bowl hopes now dashed, the Baylor Bears can focus on the finer things in a college student’s life (like final exams and the upcoming winter break).

After falling 38-3 to Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 21 at Kyle Field, Baylor is now mathematically out of bowl-berth consideration.

At this point and time, there is nothing my optimism can do to salvage the Bears season.

But this latest loss to the Aggies hurts; and turnovers were a key reason to why Baylor walked away from this one with a loss.

Early on, the offense was rolling and looked pretty good on the gridiron; but then the Bears began to make costly turnovers, many times in the red zone, leading to a disastrous result.

Regardless of being smoked in College Station, Baylor must now buckle up for their season finale in Arlington next weekend against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

And unfortunately, the most the Bears can hope for is a moral victory (win or lose) and to close the season out on a high note.

“We will be ready to roll [heading into the game against Texas Tech]”, Baylor head coach Art Briles said. “To us, this is our bowl game. We are playing at a neutral site and it is going to be a great atmosphere with a chance for our seniors to go out with a good taste in their mouth. That is our purpose and that is our plan because we want them to feel good about their experience at Baylor playing football. We want our fans to be proud.”

Personally, I believe Baylor fans already have a lot to be proud of when looking at this season.

Upon Robert Griffin going down, no one (and I really do mean no one) expected the Bears to win a single Big 12 game.

However, not only did Baylor win a conference game but they also won on the road against a tough opponent in the Missouri Tigers.

With one game remaining, it’s time for the Bears to shift their final focus to the Red Raiders.

“First of all we are anxious to get back on the field,” Briles said. “We certainly don’t feel like [Saturday] was a true representation of our football team. That is our driving force right now aside from the big venue and playing in the Metroplex.”

Win or lose, the Bears have proven they are fighters and are on the road to redemption in the Big 12 with Baylor gridiron guru in Briles leading the way…
