ESPN College Gameday 2021: Location, TV Schedule and Week 11 Predictions

Jake RillNov 12, 2021

Alabama is the front-runner to finish first in the SEC West and advance to face Georgia in the conference championship game, but it's still not a certainty at this point.

There are a few teams that could overtake the Crimson Tide, including Texas A&M and Ole Miss, which both have only one fewer conference loss than Alabama. However, either the Aggies or Rebels will fall out of the running in the SEC West on Saturday, when they go head-to-head in Oxford, Miss.

With Texas A&M at No. 11 in the College Football Playoff rankings and Ole Miss at No. 15, this has the potential to be an enthralling SEC matchup. That's why ESPN's College GameDay will be airing live from The Grove on Ole Miss' campus beginning at 9 a.m. ET.

Week 11 Preview

Georgia and Alabama are the top two teams in the CFP rankings. It would be a surprise if that changes following Week 11 play, as both are favored to win Saturday.

It's highly unlikely Alabama will lose when it hosts New Mexico State in a non-conference matchup that is likely to get lopsided in a hurry. But the Crimson Tide will finish the regular season with games against No. 25 Arkansas and No. 17 Auburn, so they've still got work to do before they can think about the SEC Championship Game.

As for the top-ranked Bulldogs, they're going on the road to take on Tennessee this week. Georgia has had easier games on its schedule to this point, but it's still unlikely it will get knocked off by the Vols, even with the game taking place at Neyland Stadium.

While these games are likely to be one-sided, the SEC may also have the most competitive matchup of the week with Ole Miss hosting Texas A&M.

The Aggies have won four games in a row, a streak that began when they became the only team to beat Alabama this season. The Rebels lost their previous SEC game (at Auburn on Oct. 30) and are seeking what would be one of their bigger victories of the year.

Last year, Texas A&M fell just short of reaching the CFP. If it's going to make it this year, it can't lose again. That's why Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher doesn't want the CFP landscape on his players' minds.

"When you get to November and you're relevant, it's a playoff. So you forget about everything else," he said, per John Zenor of the Associated Press. "One week at a time, one day at a time, one practice at a time, one play at a time. And it's that simple. Don't worry about nothing."

Texas A&M has a strong defense, which ranks 16th in the nation (and third in the SEC) with only 317.8 total yards allowed per game. However, it will be going up against an Ole Miss offense that is fourth in the country (and first in the SEC) with 524.2 total yards per game.

Can junior quarterback Matt Corral and the rest of the Rebels' offense still put up big numbers against an Aggies defense that has mostly been shutting teams down? Whichever side prevails in that matchup is likely to go on to win the game.

Even though Ole Miss has lost its past three meetings with Texas A&M, it is confident it can end that streak this year.

"I think we're going to go out and get them," Ole Miss running back Jerrion Ealy said, per Zenor. "It's going to be a task but one we're capable of handling."

Texas A&M-Ole Miss isn't the only Week 11 game that features a pair of teams currently ranked in the Top 25 by the CFP selection committee.

No. 8 Oklahoma will look to remain undefeated as it goes on the road to take on No. 13 Baylor. If the Sooners can win this game in impressive fashion, they should move up the rankings, as it would easily be their biggest victory of the season thus far.

No. 4 Ohio State is hosting No. 19 Purdue and aiming to remain in position for a CFP berth. The Buckeyes control their own destiny at this point and need to keep winning without any close calls.

No. 12 Wake Forest and No. 16 NC State will also be going head-to-head on Saturday. It should be a competitive game, as the Demon Deacons (8-1, 5-0 in ACC play) and the Wolfpack (7-2, 4-1) are currently the top two teams in the ACC Atlantic Division.

So, with all these matchups taking place (and the potential for upsets in others), it should be an intriguing week of action as the CFP and bowl season move ever closer.
