Fantasy-Booking Top WWE Stars as NFL Players

Donald WoodFeb 2, 2020

All eyes may be on the Super Bowl on Sunday, but many wrestling fans have always wondered how an NFL team made up of WWE Superstars would look.

Let's call it Team B/R.

On offense, Team B/R would run a pass-heavy game plan with a focus on getting running backs into open space, receivers deep down the field to take the lid off the opposing defense and tight ends down the seam.

On the defensive side of the ball, Team B/R would run a 4-3 scheme meant to remain balanced against the run and pass, while the secondary would be full of elite coverage cornerbacks and hard-hitting safeties.

As for the offensive and defensive lines, they say NFL games are won and lost in the trenches, so the team would feature maulers ready to protect the quarterback and take down the opposing field general.

Here are the WWE Superstars who would comprise Team B/R.

Quarterback: Becky Lynch

1 of 11

Look no further than the success of shorter quarterbacks like Russell Wilson and Drew Brees as to the reason why Becky Lynch will be the on-field leader for Team B/R.

With the ability to adapt on the fly, the speed to get out of trouble and the mental strength to handle the pressure of being the top player on the team, The Man would follow the lead of Brees and Wilson to become the game's top QB.

And she would talk trash to opposing players the whole time as well.

Running Backs: Lio Rush, Ricochet

2 of 11

Team B/R would be pass heavy, but that doesn't mean the running backs wouldn't be a big part of the offense.

With Lynch running play action and bootlegs often because of her size, Lio Rush and Ricochet would need to use their speed, athleticism and elusiveness to get past defenders and pick up chunk yardage.

While the I-formation would be rare, Team B/R still has the offensive line to pound the rock.

Wide Receivers: The Usos and Shinsuke Nakamura

3 of 11

On the outside, Team B/R needs speed and jumping ability, and what two Superstars portray those traits more often than Jimmy and Jey, The Usos? With a natural chemistry as twins, having an Uso on either side of the field hugging the sideline would force defenses to respect the deep passing game.

One of Team B/R's secret weapons would be Shinsuke Nakamura. With the height, speed and athleticism to go up and get the ball over a defender, the former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star would become a red-zone threat comparable to DeAndre Hopkins or Michael Thomas.

Tight Ends: Cesaro, Sheamus

4 of 11

The Philadelphia Eagles have found so much success thanks in part to the dominance of their two primary tight ends, Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. On Team B/R, Cesaro and Sheamus would fill those roles.

Not only do Cesaro and Sheamus have a built-in chemistry thanks to their time as a tag team, but they are also physical specimens. At a position that is guaranteed to bring big hits over the middle of the field, The Bar would dominate the seam and red zone with physicality and strength.

Offensive Line: Heavy Machinery, Braun Strowman, Nia Jax and Big Show

5 of 11

Team B/R needs to be strongest in the trenches, and there were many Superstars who could have fit the mold for our zone-blocking scheme. At left and right tackle, we have Braun Strowman and Big Show, respectively. With long arms and unparalleled athleticism for men their size, no defensive end would get past them.

At the guard positions, Heavy Machinery would use their chemistry to protect each other and stop the run-attacking defensive tackles before they get a hand on Team B/R's running backs.

As for the center, Nia Jax has shown the ability to physically dominate even the toughest men on the WWE roster, so she could handle any of the nose tackles sent her way. Combined, the five starting offensive linepersons for Team B/R would bring us a Super Bowl.

Defensive Ends: Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns

6 of 11

A great pass-rushing 4-3 defensive end is a physical specimen who combines raw power with speed and athleticism. Looking up and down WWE's main roster, and Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns fit the mold to perfection.

With each possessing a Reggie White level of intensity and drive, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them embarrass opposing offensive tackles and rack up a combined 25 sacks for Team B/R.

Defensive Tackles: Kevin Owens and Lashley

7 of 11

With McIntyre and Reigns forcing opposing coaches to double up on one of them to give their quarterback a chance to throw the ball before pressure comes, it would be imperative that Team B/R's defensive tackles can create havoc.

For Kevin Owens, his size, athleticism and relentlessness would make him a Pro Bowl run-stopper, while Bobby Lashley's strength and speed would make him a dual threat who could both stop the run in the backfield and disrupt the passing attack.

Linebackers: Charlotte Flair, Rusev and Asuka

8 of 11

The linebacking core for a 4-3 defense is always underrated but crucial to a team's success.

On the outside, Charlotte Flair would use her size and willingness to get physical with opposing tight ends or sneak into the backfield on third downs. Rusev would handle duties on the opposite side, halting the opposing running backs and using his speed to track down tight ends and slot receivers creeping over the middle.

Speaking of the middle, Asuka would use her intensity and fearlessness to jump up and fill the gaps before an opposing running back can get free. Combined, the three playmakers would cause havoc in coverage while also adding pass-rushing and run-stopping capabilities.

Cornerbacks: Sasha Banks and Bayley

9 of 11

The cornerbacks for Team B/R would be looking to jam opposing receivers at the line and keep hip to hip with them in coverage. With the need for intensity and physicality, as well as the necessary speed to keep up, look no further than the tandem of Sasha Banks and Bayley.

Banks and Bayley proved in their matches against each other they have every quality needed to be shutdown corners in the NFL. Add in their chemistry, and offenses would be left scratching their heads trying to beat the Boss and Hug Connection on the outside.

Safeties: Seth Rollins and Montez Ford

10 of 11

On Team B/R, safeties would need to jump up into run plays to stop backs who make it to the second level, as well as fall back into coverage to assist Bayley and Banks against the top receivers.

With the need to make secure tackles and dish out big hits that leave opposing players hearing footsteps for the rest of the game, Seth Rollins and Montez Ford combine the brutality with the mindset needed to dominate the league.

Special Teams: Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler

11 of 11

Finding the right players for special teams was the easiest part of the recruiting process. Randy Orton has the best punt in the business, and Dolph Ziggler’s kick is super. Sometimes the right players just fall into your lap.
