Booking Advice for Big Show After Shock WWE Return with Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe

The Doctor Chris MuellerJan 10, 2020

Big Show made a surprise return to WWE Raw on Monday to team up with Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe to battle Seth Rollins and AOP.

The former world champion doesn't have a dog in this fight and this seemed like a one-time thing rather than the start of another chapter to the current feud involving KO and Rollins.

So, the question becomes, "what now?" Big Show is an elder statesman of the company. He is one of the most experienced performers on the roster and one of the last active stars from WCW on the WWE roster.

There are a lot of ways management can use him right now, whether it wants to give him one last run as a top star or use him to put someone else over as he has been for years.

Let's look at the best booking options for Big Show moving forward.

The Mega Push

1 of 4

Big Show has held almost every title WWE has to offer. He is one of the most decorated champions working today, and it would not be a surprise to see him thrust back into the main event scene.

This is a man who has won gold from such names as Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar and Triple H. He has credibility as a top-tier challenger and WWE can take advantage of that while he still wants to perform.

Lesnar is the WWE champion and is so confident in his ability he has opted to face 29 other Superstars by entering the Royal Rumble at No. 1 on January 26.

What if The World's Largest Athlete eliminated him and earned a title shot in the process, setting up a showdown between the longtime rivals for WrestleMania 36?

The best thing about Big Show is how he has gotten better with age. He has continued to keep himself in good shape and could easily stand toe-to-toe with The Beast Incarnate.

If management really wants to make this an important run for him, Show should win the belt without Paul Heyman's help as he did the first time he defeated Lesnar.

Another run at the top is not out of the question for the 47-year old. WWE has an easy way to make it happen, and it would all start with a victory in the Royal Rumble match.

The Midcard Push

2 of 4

Big Show is a legend with several world titles to his name, but he has also spent several years helping the midcard scene in WWE, winning the United States and Intercontinental Championships along the way.

While seeing him back in the main event scene would be great, WWE already has a lot of talented people who are long overdue for a big push, such as Samoa Joe, so using Show as a midcard champion may be the better option.

The current titleholders are Andrade with the U.S. title on Raw and Shinsuke Nakamura with the IC belt on SmackDown. Both men are heels who have never fought the veteran before.

Pairing him with either Superstar for an extended feud would benefit everyone in the long run. It would give the giant some amazing opponents to work with, and working with a veteran like The World's Largest Athlete would benefit Andrade and Nakamura.

Big Show is a living legend, so nobody would make too much of a noise if he was moved to SmackDown after appearing on Monday's Raw.

The Mini Push

3 of 4

While it's always fun to see a veteran return while he can still perform, Big Show may not be looking to travel as much as he did when he was younger.

This could even be a last hurrah for him, and if that is the case, plenty of Superstars could benefit from working with him even if they end up losing to him.

There are even a few guys in NXT who would make great adversaries, such as Keith Lee and Damian Priest. They would get the rub from working with the veteran, and Big Show would get to work with someone new who can challenge him creatively.

If a short push is what WWE has in mind, the options are limitless. The company has a massive roster filled with guys who likely idolized Big Show growing up, so many would jump at the chance to work with him, especially if it was his last planned feud.

The Anti-Push

4 of 4

Big Show's return may not be a long-term thing. He has a new sitcom coming out on Netflix soon, titled The Big Show Show. This run may just be to help promote the series.

If this is the case, one man who could have some great matches with him is Drew McIntyre. These two have met before, but they were both different men back then.

If you watch the above match, you will see a much leaner McIntyre and a Big Show who was still being billed at 500 pounds. Now, The Scottish Psychopath is a monster powerhouse and the veteran has slimmed down significantly.

Unlike nine years ago during McIntyre's first run with WWE, he would not be the underdog going into this fight. The eventual result would be Big Show putting the Scot over to prepare him for a program with whoever is WWE champion after WrestleMania 36.
