Goldberg Discusses Saudi Arabia Match vs. The Undertaker

WWE announced Monday that Goldberg and The Undertaker will do battle in a singles match for the first time ever at WWE Super ShowDown in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on June 7.

Goldberg took to Instagram to relay his thoughts on the match, and he wrote the following:

"Many contributing factors making it an extremely difficult decision for me to accept this match. A match against #Undertaker would've been a dream 10-15 years ago but it never happened. We can't change the past, but somehow the stars have aligned and though it be bit later than desired, this matchup is still a dream for me. I have nothing but respect for Taker, he's a legend, BUT now I do what I do... prep for war 1 more time."

Goldberg has not wrestled since dropping the Universal Championship to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame one year later, which suggested his time as an in-ring competitor may have been over.

Over the past year, however, WWE has made a habit of utilizing legends at super-shows held in Saudi Arabia and Australia. The likes of The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane and John Cena are among those who worked those events in 2018.

Goldberg was likely given an offer he couldn't refuse to work the June 7 show, and the result is a dream match that never seemed as though it would become a reality.

The Undertaker and Goldberg are two of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling, and their match will have a decidedly WWE vs. WCW feel since Taker has always been synonymous with WWE and Goldberg is best known for his time in WCW.

Although the match isn't likely to be a technical masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, the mere visual of The Undertaker and Goldberg staring each other down should make for a memorable moment.

Strowman Reportedly Working Through Injury

Braun Strowman is reportedly dealing with an injury, although it isn't significant enough to require time off.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Marc Middleton to WrestlingInc.com), the nature of Strowman's injury is unclear, but it may be biceps or triceps-related since he is wearing a band on his right arm.

Strowman lost a Falls Count Anywhere match against Sami Zayn on Monday's episode of Raw due to interference from Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin, which resulted in Zayn taking Strowman's spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Meltzer reported that the injury had nothing to do with Strowman getting removed from the match, and it was instead done as "part of a longer storyline" that will play out in the coming weeks.

The Monster Among Men has been used somewhat sparingly since winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35 with just two televised matches over the past five weeks.

Considering the manner in which Strowman was taken out of the Money in the Bank ladder match, it seems likely that Strowman will get involved in the match by targeting Zayn, McIntyre and Corbin, which could then lead to a feud against one of them after the pay-per-view.

If that is the case, then it figures to be among the top programs on Raw over the next several weeks.

WWE Signs DJZ

WWE announced the signing of independent wrestling veteran Michael "DJZ" Paris on Tuesday.

Paris is best known for his time in Impact Wrestling under the names Zema Ion and DJZ. He wrestled for the company from 2011-18, during which time he won the X-Division Championship twice and the Impact World Tag Team Championships once.

The 32-year-old Los Angeles native is a skilled cruiserweight wrestler who could fit in any number of different roles with WWE.

A stint in NXT is a possibility, or DJZ could make the move to 205 Live, which is in need of a talent infusion after moving Buddy Murphy and Cedric Alexander to the main roster.

In addition to his in-ring acumen, DJZ is a good promo guy and developed some strong characters in Impact Wrestling, which is something that could benefit 205 Live.

Regardless of how WWE decides to deploy DJZ, it signed a talented all-around performer who should be an asset to the company.
