LaVar Ball Talks Lonzo Ball Covering Up Big Baller Brand Tattoo amid Nike Rumors

Kyle NewportApr 2, 2019

LaVar Ball has broken his silence on the turmoil that surrounds Lonzo Ball and Big Baller Brand.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, LaVar denied the company was folding but declined to comment on the rumors that his son will join Nike, saying it's up to Lonzo to address that:

ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne and Paula Lavigne reported last month that Lonzo had cut ties with Big Baller Brand co-founder Alan Foster after he discovered $1.5 million was missing from his personal and business accounts. The Los Angeles Lakers star told ESPN.com that Foster, who owns 16.3 percent of the company, "used his access to my business and personal finances to enrich himself. As a result, I have decided to sever all ties with Alan, effective immediately."

Shelburne added that the Ball family has discussed shutting down Big Baller Brand in efforts to distance itself from Foster.

There has been growing speculation that Lonzo will leave Big Baller Brand for Nike. On March 23, he posted an image on Instagram with the caption "Moving on to bigger and better #MyOwnMan." The image contained the phrase "It's only a crazy dream until you do it," which is Nike's tagline.

Two days later, Lonzo's manager, Darren Moore, posted a video of himself throwing out a pair of Big Baller Brand sneakers:

Most notably, Lonzo has covered up the BBB tattoo on his arm:

LaVar told TMZ Sports the brand is "still rolling" and that the family "sticks together." He did, however, express support for his son's decision to redo his ink. The NBA previously threatened to fine Lonzo if the tattoo wasn't covered during games.

"Lonzo had to cover that triple B up anyway," LaVar said. "You can't play with no Band-Aid when you not even hurt. It feels weird playing like that. So you gotta cover it anyway."

He wasn't willing to say whether Lonzo was sticking with Big Baller Brand, though.

"I don't know. You'll have to ask him that, man," LaVar added. "You'll have to ask him that. See where he's at."
