Top 5 NBA Players From Years 2000-2008!
Throughout the last eight years a lot has changed. The 2003 draft contains possibly over five Hall of Famers. No more high school players allowed. A dynasty was born in San Antonio. Kobe complained and Pat Riley coached again. Shaq has finally arrived to his final years of dominance as players like Dwight Howard emerge. A shifting combine of talented old and new players excite NBA fans. Here is my depiction of the top five players from 2000-2008.
#1 Kobe Bryant
I'm not as well pleased with this pick either but what hasn't this guy done? 10 All NBA selection's, NBA titles, NBA MVP, 2 NBA All-Star game MVP selections, 10 time All-Star, and slam dunk contest winner. He may complain and he may whine anytime he isn't winning but that is what he is known for. He is now being compared to Michael Jordan. Kobe is Kobe and after he is retired we will remember him for that not for close he was to the greatest in another time, but for how great he was in his time.
#2 LeBron James
King James may be great but still hasn't "ruled" this era. He will probably shatter the NBA total points record because he has over 10,000 points and he is only 24 years old. LeBron James did fall short this playoffs when he had a decent support cast around him and couldn't get past the second round but that doesn't subtract from the caliber of player he is. I don't think he will surpass Jordan in greatness because Jordan had six NBA championships and Lebron may win two or three. Lebron can take over games but he hasn't shown that he makes players better around him.
#3 Shaquille O'Neal
He has been the most dominant center for the last five to ten years but he really has no one to match him. With the emergence of Dwight Howard Shaq is quickly on his downfall. Shaq is a phenomenal player and is a hall of famer probably first ballot. Even now today in his mid 30's Shaq is still a hot commodity with the Shawn Marion trade. Shaq will go down as one of the greatest big men of all time.
#4 Kevin Garnett
This big man was an hall of famer when he hit 30 years old. Now searching for his final piece of his puzzle an NBA Championship. He brought the Timberwolves very far when Flip was the coach and he has dominated mostly every player to step up and try to guard him. Garnett has a very impressive mid range shot that can be trusted in almost any situation and an inside game that appears unmatched.
#5 Tim Duncan
Tim Duncan has had a great supporting cast achieving four NBA championships and he himself has been one of the best role models for every type of fan. He has been the centerpiece for the San Antonio dynasty throughout these years. Now with two MVP awards and a fantastic career Tim Duncan is at the end of his days and will be remembered among the greatest.
Honorable Mention Steve Nash
Back-to-back MVP and a six time All-star as well as six time All NBA selection. Steve Nash won his first MVP title when he was 31 which is unheard of. Typical MVP's win in their late 20's but not Steve Nash. He has also been the head of the run and gun offensive design.
