Ederson Signs New Manchester City Contract Until 2025
Ederson has signed a new deal with Manchester City, extending his stay with the Premier League champions until 2025.
The Brazil international goalkeeper, who joined the Citizens from Benfica last summer, spelled out his ambition to win bigger prizes to City TV (h/t the club's official website):
"I want to win everything we can! All of the competitions, but for me the Champions League is without a doubt a very special competition for us, and it is my dream to win it in Manchester City's shirt!"

City director of football Txiki Begiristain also lauded praise on the 24-year-old stopper, per the official site: "He has outstanding quality and his ability with the ball sets him apart from his competitors. We are really looking forward to seeing him develop at City over the coming years."

The point about Ederson's quality in possession is particularly telling. It's why he has offered a significant upgrade over last season's starter, Claudio Bravo.
Manager Pep Guardiola demands his 'keepers have the ability to launch attacks from deep with the composure and vision of outfield players. Ederson has already proved himself adept as one of modern football's best so-called sweeper keepers.
BBC Sport's Simon Stone is in no doubt about Ederson's significance in City's record-breaking title win:
The numbers support Stone's view since the Citizens conceded just 27 goals, the fewest in England's top flight this season. Ederson's role in the division's meanest defence was to keep 16 clean sheets, second only to David De Gea of local rivals Manchester United, per the league's official website.
Keeping Ederson is an obvious coup, and City even teased the news of his new deal on Twitter before making an official announcement:
News of Ederson extending his stay at the club came on the same day City reached a record 100 points after a 1-0 win away to Southampton. Both developments are further proof the future is bright for the Manchester club, with Guardiola's squad looking able to continue its dominance beyond 2018.
