EPL Table: 2018 Final Standings and Top Scorers After Week 38 Results

Chelsea were decimated 3-0 in their trip to Newcastle United on Sunday and were denied UEFA Champions League qualification.

Chelsea's fifth-place finish meant there was no change in the Premier League's top six on the last day of the season.

An Erik Lamela brace saw Tottenham Hotspur overturn a 3-1 deficit to beat Leicester City 5-4 at Wembley Stadium and keep third, while Liverpool cruised to a 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion as they stayed fourth.

Mohamed Salah scored the first of Liverpool's goals during that rout and set a new Premier League record as he sealed the Premier League's Golden Boot in his first season back in England, per the Reds' official Twitter account:

Arsene Wenger's last game in charge of Arsenal ended in victory as the Gunners emerged 1-0 winners at Huddersfield Town, where Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored to end his first Premier League term on 10 goals. 

Despite that victory, Wenger signs off from Arsenal with his worst Premier League season on record, ending without a trophy and a league tally four points lower than their previous worst under the Frenchman (67 in 2005-06), per AllArsenal.com.

Swansea City lost 2-1 at home to Stoke City and joined the Potters in relegation after failing to pull what slim chances they might have had at survival. Southampton's 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester City was ultimately enough to officially secure their top-flight future.

West Ham United beat Everton 3-1 in a meeting with former Hammers manager Sam Allardyce, while Burnley surrendered two late goals to lose 2-1 at home to Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace beat West Bromwich Albion.

Irresistible Salah Breaks Premier League Goal Record

This season has long seemed destined to be Salah's with regards to the Golden Boot race, but only on the final day did he manage to get a boot across the line and set a new Premier League record for goals in a 38-game season.

His 32 goals in the Premier League this season set a new benchmark in scoring, something even Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't manage in six years at Manchester United, and the Egyptian enjoyed basking in his individual win:

A rare trio of scorers joined in Liverpool's rout alongside familiar face Salah, with Dejan Lovren heading in before Dominic Solanke and man-of-the-match Andrew Robertson added a pair of strikes in the second half.

Harry Kane scored twice for Tottenham in their nine-goal thriller of a win over Leicester and set a new personal best for goals in a Premier League season with 30, but even that tally wasn't enough to topple Salah.

The Liverpool ace has made a seamless transition back to England after a couple of seasons in Serie A, and he heads into the UEFA Champions League final on May 26 with a ratio better than a goal contribution per game, via Indy Football:

Confirmation as the new Premier League record-holder for goals in a season is likely to only intensify speculation regarding Salah's future at Anfield, with him inarguably one of football's most valuable players at present.

It was former Newcastle United and England superstar Alan Shearer who held the previous record of 31 goals in a 38-game Premier League season, and he offered Salah congratulations despite finally losing his accolade:

Shearer set that standard in the 1995-96 campaign, and though many scoring phenomenons have tried and failed, it's Salah who finally pierced through to establish a new target to beat 22 years on.

Tottenham's comeback win over Leicester meant Liverpool's triumph over Brighton couldn't propel them back to third, but fourth spot and recognition of Salah's merits will put them in good spirits to take on Real in Kiev.
