IPL 2018: Top Run-Scorers, Leading Averages, Strike Rates and More T20 Stats

Rishabh Pant and Andrew Tye put themselves in pole position to win the 2018 Indian Premier League's Orange and Purple Caps as leading run-scorer and wicket-taker, respectively, but both did so in losing efforts on Saturday.

Delhi Daredevils' Pant scored 61 in a five-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Kings XI Punjab's Tye took four wickets in a 31-run loss against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kings XI remain on course to qualify for the play-offs despite the loss, while Delhi sit in last place and likely can't wait for the season to end.

Tye's four wickets were the standout statistic from Punjab's effort with the ball in their loss against Kolkata, but it was about the only positive to take away from their fielding performance. All of the team's bowlers finished with double-digit economy rates, and Knight Riders racked up an impressive 245 runs in total.

Cricket statistician Sampath Bandarupalli noted that it was a record-setting total for Kolkata:

Tye gave up 41 runs in four overs, but he did take Kolkata's first four wickets, including that of Sunil Narine, who finished with 75 runs from 36 balls.

Pant scored 61 from 34 before he was caught by AB de Villiers off the bowling of England's Moeen Ali, and Delhi finished on 181/4, a score Bangalore chased down with relative ease.
