Former 4-Star QB Prospect Joe Burrow to Transfer from Ohio State
Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow announced Tuesday he's planning to transfer from the Buckeyes football program "in the coming weeks."
Burrow confirmed the decision in a Twitter post:
The Athens High School (Ohio) product arrived to OSU at a 4-star prospect and the No. 8 dual-threat QB in the 2015 recruiting class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.
He failed to make an impact across three years with the Buckeyes, though. He redshirted as a true freshman and appeared in just 10 games over the past two seasons.
The pro-style quarterback completed 74.4 percent of his throws for 287 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in those limited snaps. He also recorded a rushing score.
Although the Ohio State QB job became available following the graduation of J.T. Barrett, who signed with the New Orleans Saints after going undrafted, Dwayne Haskins appears poised to take the job, which would have left Burrow in a reserve role again.
247Sports' Bill Greene reported the Florida Gators and Nebraska Cornhuskers are potential landing spots.
Burrow will be a graduate transfer with two years left and eligible to play immediately.
