Preakness 2018 Post Time: Important Start Time and Lineup Info

His trainer, Bob Baffert, saw American Pharoah do so three years ago before completing the box set of titles at the Belmont Stakes later in the year.

Justify Goes for More Glory

Not since 1882 had a horse that hadn't debuted as a two-year-old won the Kentucky Derby. Justify ended that run with an excellent performance under the iconic twin spires.
In horrendous wet conditions, he showed tremendous durability and speed late in the race to win by a comfortable margin. On board, Mike Smith gave Justify a tremendous ride, too. They're attributes that point towards a potential Triple Crown winner.
Here's a reminder of how he did it, per NBC Sports:
As noted by broadcaster Skip Bayless, there have been signs that Justify may be able to follow in the footsteps of other history-making horses:
There are obvious differences between the Kentucky showpiece and Pimlico that will make things tough for Justify, though. It's a little shorter than the Run for the Roses, and the circuit in Baltimore is tighter, meaning there's a shorter home stretch for the naturally quicker horses to get into their stride.
Ahead of the big race, Baffert has done what he can to calm expectations of a Triple Crown triumph.
"Not yet, not yet," the legendary trainer said when asked about Justify possibly winning all three, per Jason Frakes of the Louisville Courier Journal. "I'm not thinking that right now. Right now I'm just thinking, 'just keep him healthy.' We have another one in a couple of weeks. … They've always told me, 'Don't get in a rush. He's a young horse.'"

Baffert's own pedigree as a trainer is another reason why there is excitement about what Justify can accomplish.
As noted by GameDay's Chris Fallica, his horses tend to thrive in the big races:
While Justify will be the heavy favourite for Preakness, there is competition to consider, most notably in the form of Good Magic, who was second in Kentucky. On better ground and in a smaller field, he might be able to get closer to the favourite.
Justify will be a difficult horse to beat again, though. In his short career, he's already showcased the talent to win in different conditions by tapping into difficult tactical plans. Smith is a steady hand in the saddle, too, with the Kentucky victory his fifth in Triple Crown races.
Provided he's well rested and gets a clean run at Pimlico, Justify will head to Belmont having kept Baffert's dream of two Triple Crown winners in the space of three years alive.
