Mumbai Beat Kolkata―Again
The defending champions cruised to a 13-run win over Knight Riders, and as shared by Broken Cricket, it continued a remarkable win streak for Indians:
Suryakumar Yadav powered Mumbai's innings with 59 from 39, and the hosts enjoyed a steady knock, with Kolkata's bowling not getting the job done.
Their batsmen did an even worse job, however, falling behind the pace early and never recovering. Hardik Pandya was masterful with the ball, taking two wickets while giving up just 19 runs for an economy rate of just 4.75.
Robin Uthappa was the only Knight Riders batsmen who stood out in a positive manner and made history in the process:
With the result, Mumbai's unlikely bid to qualify for the play-offs remains alive.
Royals Collapse, Kings XI Win
Rajasthan have been among the IPL's bottom feeders this season and reminded everyone why on Sunday, as all of their great work came undone in just a few overs.
At the end of the 15th over, Kings XI needed 52 from 31, for a required run rate of 10.2. Punjab were averaging 6.8 at the time, and while the match was far from over, Royals' lead seemed relatively safe.
Jofra Archer gave up 16 in one over, however, setting the tone for a hectic finale. Lokesh Rahul, who had opened for Kings XI, completed an unbeaten 84 in style. Per ESPNcricinfo, it was his best-ever IPL innings:
The win moved Kings XI into third place, giving the side a four-point buffer over Indians.
