Sunrisers Hyderabad rose back to the top of the 2018 Indian Premier League table on Saturday after they beat Delhi Daredevils by seven wickets following a desperate dash for the finish line.
The leaders moved back into pole position after sealing their victory with one ball remaining, and Alex Hales' 45 runs off 31 balls saw the Englishman play a significant hand in their triumph.
Chennai Super Kings earlier stole the IPL lead back for themselves after they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets.
The Super Kings have endured some patchy form of late and have seven wins from their 10 matches thus far, while Hyderabad have now won their last four in succession.

Chennai, Hyderabad Wage War for IPL Summit
Saturday was an intense round for the IPL leaders as Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their head-to-head for control of the league summit.
And the Sunrisers made some history in the process, per Bharath Seervi of ESPNCricinfo.com:
The visitors opted to bat first and came out full of intent in Hyderabad, where the Sunrisers have lost only once this term—to the Super Kings.
Eighteen-year-old Prithvi Shaw helped Delhi mounted a worthy total with 63 off 36 balls, as highlighted by Cricbuzz:
But even his superb individual effort couldn't stop the Sunrisers, whose five batsmen all scored at least 21 runs each.
Earlier on Saturday, the Super Kings temporarily reclaimed the lead after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets.
CSK opted to field first in front of a home crowd at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. In response, Parthiv Patel hit two of Bangalore's three sixes on the day—Tim Southee accounted for the other—and mustered a match-high score of 53 runs to extend his tally of IPL half-centuries, as noted by Cricbuzz:
New Zealander Southee was the only other Bangalore player to score in the double digits, and Chennai were clearly capable of chasing down the total laid ahead of them.
In contrast, only one of CSK's six batsmen on the day failed to score 10 runs or more—Dhruv Shorey was taken for eight.
Harbhajan Singh took two wickets, including AB de Villiers with his first ball, but it was Ravindra Jadeja who impressed most among the Chennai bowlers, although he didn't celebrate after dismissing India captain Virat Kohli with his first ball:
Jadeja's performance went a long way to making up for a more disappointing outing in the defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.
The worry for the Super Kings is that the Sunrisers still have a game in hand, meaning if they want to secure the table's peak for season's end, they can afford few slips in their four remaining regular-season matches.
