Tony Romo Tied for Lead of Carlton Woods Invitational After Shooting 3-Under
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS NFL analyst Tony Romo is tied for first at the Carlton Woods Invitational golf tournament after shooting a three-under 69 on Tuesday.
According to Dylan Dethier of Golf.com, Romo carded five birdies and two bogeys at the amateur event held at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas.
On Monday, Romo failed to qualify for the 2018 U.S. Open, as he shot a five-over 77 at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, Texas.
Romo entered the second round of the three-round tournament tied atop the leaderboard with Brian Blanchard and Ryan Eibner.
The 38-year-old has long received attention for his golfing ability, and he has unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for the U.S. Open on numerous occasions.
In March, Romo received a sponsor's exemption to play in the PGA Tour's Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship in the Dominican Republic. He missed the cut and finished last in the field of 132 after shooting a 77 and 82 in the first two rounds, respectively.
Romo enjoyed more success on the football field during a 13-year NFL career; he went 78-49 as a starter and was named to four Pro Bowls.
He is the Cowboys' all-time leader in passing yardage (34,183) and passing touchdowns (248) ahead of Hall of Famers Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach.
