Manchester United Transfer News: Jose Mourinho Talks Marouane Fellaini Future
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said on Sunday that midfielder Marouane Fellaini is close to signing a contract extension with the Old Trafford club.
The Belgium international was the match-winner for United as his stoppage-time header secured a 2-1 win over Arsenal.
Mourinho said after the game he wants Fellaini to stay, and the midfielder's celebration suggested he wants to remain with the club, per BBC Sport.

"We are almost there but I can't celebrate because almost is not enough. I want to see the white paper with the United crest and [executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward and Marouane Fellaini's signatures. I think a player that grabs the crest after scoring is telling clearly that he wants to stay. I want him to stay, the club wants him to stay, I think he will stay."

The former Everton man's deal expires in the summer, and there has been speculation he would leave the club. AS Roma, Marseille and Chinese Super League clubs have all shown interest in the midfielder, according to Mark Ogden at ESPN.co.uk.
Mourinho's comments suggest Fellaini will now stay at United despite not having a regular role this season. He has made just four Premier League starts, although injuries have played a part.
The 30-year-old is hardly a fan favourite but does contribute important goals, and Sunday's was his fifth of the season. Rob Dawson at ESPN FC said he's a useful option for the Red Devils:
Fellaini is an awkward opponent and can be a real nuisance for defenders. He is strong in the air, loves a physical challenge and has an eye for goal.
United may still make midfield changes this summer, as they are set to lose Michael Carrick, who will retire at the end of the season.
The Red Devils could bring in Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred after stepping up their interest in the Brazilian, per Samuel Luckhurst at the Manchester Evening News.
Fellaini may find it difficult again to force his way into the team, but Mourinho does appear to trust him as an important member of the squad.
