IPL Results 2018: Delhi vs. Kolkata Score, Revised Points Table and Fixtures
A brilliant batting performance from the Delhi Daredevils saw them to a 55-run victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League on Friday.
Batting first, Delhi were inspired to a total of 219 for four by an unbeaten 93 from Shreyas Iyer. He was given great support by Prithvi Shaw (62) and Colin Munro (33).
With a mammoth total on the board, Kolkata needed to be perfect and a flurry of early wickets left the middle order with too much to do. A partnership of 64 from Shubman Gill (37) and Andre Russell (44) prevented this one from being a mauling.
The result was a big one for Delhi, picking up just their second win of the season and moving off the bottom of the table. Here's how things are shaping up in the standings, the matches to come and a recap of Friday's action.

Delhi Daredevils (219/4) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (164/9) by 55 runs.

Having elected to field after winning the toss, Kolkata's bowlers would've been hopeful of putting more pressure on the competition's bottom side. Skipper Dinesh Karthik would be left to rue his call.
Delhi were lightning out of the blocks, with Shaw and Munro immediately going after the bowlers. The former, who is just 18 years old, was especially impressive, as he didn't appear daunted by the stage, operating with poise and power.
In his 44 balls at the crease he made 62 and as noted by statistician Mohandas Menon, matched an IPL record in the process:
When the youngster was eventually prised out he'd built an excellent platform for the Daredevils. Iyer was able to capitalise in spectacular fashion.
The 23-year-old was exceptional for his side, as he hammered the Kolkata bowlers to all parts of the stadium. His knock included an astonishing 10 sixes, as well as three fours, propelling Delhi to a gargantuan total in the process.
Per the competition website, his team-mates were impressed with some of the big hitting on show:
Commentator Harsha Bhogle praised the way Iyer paced his knock:
In the end, he finished up unbeaten on 93 and a late dash of 27 from Glenn Maxwell pushed Delhi to an imposing 219 for four.
Kolkata needed a fast start in response, but some pinpoint bowling from Trent Boult dislodged the dangerous Sunil Narine and experienced Robin Uthappa. With the wickets falling quickly and the run rate spiralling, it was clear early on which way this one was going.
There was some late hope for Kolkata, as Russell produced one his trademark bursts with the bat. But his 44 from 30 balls wasn't enough to dig the Knight Riders out of the hole they'd left themselves in.
