How Did Tom Cable Avoid Being Arrested Or Indicted?
The online betting odds that Oakland coach Tom Cable would catch some legal heat were pretty good, but District Attorney Gary Lieberstein broke the news on Friday that he would not be pressing charges against Cable for his alleged assault of coach Randy Hanson, who claims Cable broke his jaw. So how is Cable escaping the wrath of the district attorney?
Lieberstein says that Hanson’s story didn’t go with the other three coaches who were in the room at the time of the alleged assault, which essentially ended any hopes the former Raiders assistant had of prosecuting his ex-boss. I’m good with that, if Cable didn’t do it, then it’s all good. He’s lucky that he wasn’t the coach of the New York Giants, because from what I hear, the NYPD is thorough with that sort of thing. But still, I’m calling for some sort of penalty against Cable. I’ll use “Pacman” Jones as an example. Granted, he was accused of some bad things, but he was never convicted, and Emperor Roger Goddell made it his life goal to get Jones out of the league. Let’s even look at Bill Belichick, who was caught spying on other teams, and he got draft picks taken away because it was supposed to be a stiff penalty. Has it worked? Look at the Patriots and answer your own question.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Look, I’m all for anyone who avoids prison time, and if you beat the charges and are not convicted, good on you. But Goodell holds the players in the league to a certain standard, so why not the coaches, too? It seems they can do whatever they want.
The entire Raiders organization should be up on criminal charges for the way they’ve run the team into the ground and ruined their betting hopes, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.
