Manchester United's Paul Pogba Reportedly Offered to PSG by Agent Mino Raiola

Christopher SimpsonApr 17, 2018

Football agent Mino Raiola has reportedly offered Manchester United star Paul Pogba to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler, United boss Jose Mourinho is willing to let Pogba leave this summer, and the midfielder is weighing up his options with Raiola having made contact with PSG to discuss a move.

Raiola had a strong relationship with the club after facilitating the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Old Trafford, but with the pair moved on to pastures new he only represents Pogba and back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero at United.

Aside from his brace against Manchester City, Pogba's performances in recent months have often been below what he's capable of, increasing speculation he could depart this summer.

Sports writer Jonas Giaever believes the 25-year-old should be given more time, but equally Pogba must change his attitude if he's to turn things around in Manchester:

Meanwhile, football writer Tom McDermott would have no qualms about letting him go provided they can recoup what they paid for him:

United let Angel Di Maria join PSG after just one year at Old Trafford at a loss of over £15 million, but doing the same with Pogba would represent a greater loss of face, not to mention that even a club of the Red Devils' resources can ill afford to repeatedly lose significant sums like that.

As such, if they were to let him go they would most likely want at least the £89 million they paid for him.

While that would typically not be an issue for PSG, Wheeler noted the Parisian outfit's ability to splash the cash this summer could be hampered by financial fair play concerns after the £365 million spent on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

If they're not an option, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only realistic alternatives that are not among United's domestic rivals, but neither have shown much interest.

The powers that be at Old Trafford are said to prefer to keep him, though, both to save face and to avoid making the summer's transfer activity even more difficult.

United are already set to lose two central options in Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini, and a number of other players such as Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian could follow them out the door, so they'll already have their hands full replacing them.

As a result, it would be a surprise if United did not give Pogba at least one more season to impress consistently. If he's still unable to convince, an exit next year seems more likely.
