Watt said he first met the former first lady during their work promoting literacy, and a kinship blossomed.
"I was just a kid and I'm looking there," Watt told reporters. "This is the former first lady of the United States and she has shoulder pads on and eye black, and she's looking at me and we're talking about literacy, and she's cracking jokes with me between takes, and I don't know what gets better than this."
Bush died shortly after the family announced she would no longer be seeking medical treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and congestive heart failure. She and George H.W. Bush were married 73 years, the longest of any presidential couple.
