Champions League Results 2018: Qualified Teams After Wednesday Quarter-Finals
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich both qualified for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after contrasting second-leg ties against Juventus and Sevilla, respectively, in the last eight on Wednesday night.
Holders Real went through after Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty deep into stoppage time to break Juventus' hearts. Juve were leading 3-0, levelling the tie on aggregate.
Extra time seemed a formality until Medhi Benatia conceded a penalty after a shove on Lucas Vazquez. Referee Michael Oliver gave the decision and also sent off Juve's veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon for his enraged protests.

Ronaldo's goal meant Real survived the tie by the odd goal.

From the dramatic to the bland. Bayern completed the job against Sevilla after a goalless draw at the Allianz Arena. Die Roten did enough, while the visitors saw Joaquin Correa sent off late on.
Here are the aggregate results:
- Real Madrid 1-3 Juventus (Real win 4-3 on aggregate)
- Bayern Munich 0-0 Sevilla (Bayern win 2-1 on aggregate)
Real and Juve's chaotic tussle began with Mario Mandzukic heading in with less than two minutes on the clock. The same player produced another decisive header eight minutes before the break.
Juve levelled the tie on the hour mark, when a mistake from goalkeeper Keylor Navas allowed Blaise Matuidi to profit. The Bianconeri thought they had done enough to at least force extra time.
It looked like they had until Ronaldo won a header seconds before the final whistle. The ball dropped to Vazquez, prompting Benatia into a clumsy tackle.
Rights and wrongs of the decision will be debated endlessly, but there was no mistake about Ronaldo's coolly dispatched penalty after a long wait.
The goal made history for Real's awesome No. 7 against Juve, according to Sky Sports Statto:
It also meant another moment of history for the club that has owned this trophy in both its guise as the old European Cup and the Champions League, per Squawka Football:
The 12-time winners can celebrate, but Buffon was left to lament after bowing out of the Champions League with a red card.
Eurosport UK drew a comparison between the 40-year-old's exit and how Real manager Zinedine Zidane ended his career by being sent off in the 2006 FIFA World Cup final:
Ironically, Buffon, who played against Zidane and France in the same final, had unwittingly predicted he might follow suit, per Paolo Bandini of the Guardian:
There was no such irony for Correa, but the 23-year-old will still have been wounded by his late dismissal in Munich. Sevilla had battled hard, going close through Correa and Sergio Escudero.
Correa also headed against the crossbar, with Bayern looking rattled. Star striker Robert Lewandowski struggled to fire.
However, Die Roten had enough knowhow to play within themselves, protect their first-leg lead and progress.

Real will be the favourites after their unforgettable late show to survive against Juve. However, no team will relish being drawn against a Bayern side brimming with experienced match-winners.
Attention will turns to Friday's draw, with Liverpool and AS Roma also in the hat.
