Dana White: Conor McGregor 'Despicable' for Crashing UFC 223 Media Day

Conor McGregor might have hurt his chances of competing in the UFC again by crashing the media day for UFC 223. 

McGregor showed up to media day Thursday and began an altercation with some of the fighters on the card, per Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting. He and members of his team threw chairs and attacked the van that held several of the fighters.

According to Helwani, the motive behind the attack was retaliation for McGregor's teammate Artem Lobov, whom Khabib Nurmagomedov confronted earlier in the week.

UFC president Dana White was disgusted by the star's actions, per Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com:

Prior to the incident, McGregor voiced his displeasure with the UFC after White announced that he would be stripped of his lightweight title due to inactivity, per Dan Gelston of the Associated Press. McGregor didn't take kindly to the news and spoke candidly about it on Twitter (warning: NSFW language):

The Irish fighter hasn't competed in the UFC since a November 2016 win over Eddie Alvarez. He switched to boxing for a matchup against Floyd Mayweather this past summer, and he has yet to return to the Octagon. 

Prior to Thursday's fracas, White indicated he expected McGregor to return to the UFC soon.

"Conor McGregor is 100 percent coming back this year," he said Wednesday, per Steven Rondina of Bleacher Report. "He will fight this year. And we'll see how thing plays out, and we'll go from there."

With McGregor's UFC future still up in the air, this likely won't help his cause. Meanwhile, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway will compete Saturday for the UFC lightweight championship.
