PSG Reportedly Ready to Move for Toby Alderweireld in Latest Rumours
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to match Toby Alderweireld's wage demands of £10 million a year, as speculation continues to intensify that the Belgium international is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, the Ligue 1 leaders are keen to sign the central defender, who is said to be requesting a wage of nearly £200,000 a week in order to extend his stay in north London.
Talks over a new deal have stalled as a result, and given Alderweireld reportedly has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for £20 million in the summer of 2019, Tottenham are considering cashing in on the player at the end of this campaign.

"Manchester United and PSG are keen on Alderweireld, but the French giants are ready to move to the front of the queue by indicating they are prepared to offer the centre-half the deal he wants," noted Mokbel. "Mauricio Pochettino has already told Alderweireld he can leave this summer and left the matter in the hands of chairman Daniel Levy."

Alderweireld has been a crucial player for Spurs in recent years, although after a season disrupted by injury he has dropped down the pecking order under Pochettino. He was left out of the squad completely on Sunday in the 3-1 win against Chelsea.
While the omission provided more fuel for the transfer rumours, Spurs writer Chris Miller insisted he could see why the 29-year-old had been left out:
Alderweireld signed for Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2015 having impressed on loan at Southampton the previous season. Since then he's gone from strength to strength.
In partnership with Jan Vertonghen, the duo have arguably forged the most consistent defence in the Premier League in that time.
Throughout 2017-18 Spurs' main partnership has been Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez, with the latter impressing following a move from Ajax. As such, the dependency on Alderweireld has diminished somewhat.
Under Pochettino the Tottenham team is becoming less and less about the impact individuals can have on the side. Per ESPN's Ben Pearce, Sunday's result summed that up:
PSG's interest in Alderweireld would make sense from their perspective. With skipper Thiago Silva moving closer to the end of his career, the capital club require another forceful defensive presence; the Belgian's all-round game would make him a fine fit for the way the team operates.
There's no doubt how vital Alderweireld has become at Tottenham and even now, some would argue that with him in the side Spurs look more secure in defence. But with negotiations seemingly at a standstill and big money potentially on the table in the summer, a departure appears to be increasingly likely.
