The 2018 Masters promises to be a memorable event, and there will be plenty of focus on Woods, who could be peaking at just the right time. The 42-year-old is hoping to put the green jacket on for a fifth time, and victory would seal a remarkable comeback.
Woods' troubles have been well-documented, and the American has described himself as a "walking miracle" after returning to the game after spinal back fusion surgery, per BBC Sport.
He has found his form and finished as runner-up at the 2018 Valspar Championship in March, behind McIlroy. The American said that this year will be different now his injury problems are behind him, as shown by the Masters Tournament:
Yet McIlory will provide stiff competition as he seeks to become just the sixth player to complete a career Grand Slam of all four major titles.
The PGA Tour showed how the Northern Irishman is in great shape:
McIlroy will be the focus of much attention, but so, too, will Spieth, who is also back in form at the right time. The 24-year-old seems to love playing at Augusta, and he put in a strong showing at the recent Houston Open to give him a boost ahead of the Masters.
Per Henry Young at CNN, Spieth said he had "made some big strides from my last couple tournaments" and is "very excited for what next week holds."
Golf writer Ben Coley said McIlroy and Spieth back in form is exactly what the tournament needed:
An intriguing week awaits at Augusta, as a crowded field battles for the green jersey. A Woods win would make for a remarkable storyline, but there's plenty of quality opposition ready to carve out their own little piece of history.
