Barcelona Transfer News: Justin Kluivert Fuels Rumours with Comments on Future
Ajax winger Justin Kluivert has said Barcelona are his "dream club" amid speculation he could move to the Camp Nou.
The 18-year-old is impressing at Ajax and made his Netherlands debut in the 3-0 international friendly win over Portugal.
His father Patrick Kluivert won a league title with Barcelona during his six years at the club, and the youngster said he would like to follow in his father's footsteps, per Goal's Peter McVitie and Justus Dingemanse.
"My dream club? Barcelona. That is my dream club," he said. "To follow in my father's footsteps? Yes. That is my dream club in the end. I would not mind going elsewhere, but Barcelona is the dream."
Squawka Football showed how Kluivert is already on a similar path to his father:
The teenager has eight goals and four assists for Ajax this season and combines sound technical ability with great athleticism. Bleacher Report's Tom Williams revealed which top players he can be compared with:
At just 18, Kluivert still has a long way to go to fulfil his potential, but he is probably in the right place given Ajax's excellent reputation for developing young players.
Manchester United have been in talks with Kluivert over a deal to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer, per John Richardson at the Mirror.
However, Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman said Kluivert should not move away from the Eredivisie just yet, as shown by Goal:
His father has also given his verdict on where he feels his son should ply his trade in the future:
There's no doubting Kluivert's potential, and his family's history with Barcelona would surely help any move to Barcelona if the Catalan giants were interested in bringing the winger to the Camp Nou.
Any such move still looks some way off, and Kluivert may be better off staying at Ajax and focusing on his development with the Eredivisie side for at least another season.
