Arsenal vs. Stoke City: Team News, Preview, Live Stream, TV Info

Gill ClarkMar 30, 2018

Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Sunday as they welcome struggling Stoke City to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have little chance of a top-four finish so they may have one eye on Thursday's UEFA Europa League quarter-final against CSKA Moscow.

However, Stoke will be desperate for points as they go into gameweek 32 in the relegation zone and fighting for their Premier League survival.

Jack Wilshere should be fit for Arsenal after recovering from a knee injury that forced him to withdraw from the England squad, per Zinny Boswell at Sky Sports.

Alexandre Lacazette is also back in training after knee surgery, but assistant manager Steve Bould said he was "unsure" if the Frenchman would feature against Stoke.

Mame Diouf could return for the visitors, but Maxim Choupo-Moting is definitely out, per the club's official website. Charlie Adam is suspended after being sent off in their 2-1 defeat to Everton last time out.

Ibrahim Afellay has been told to stay away from the club by manager Paul Lambert after he became frustrated with his attitude, per John Percy at the Telegraph.

Wilshere is expected to feature and has some impressing to do with his club future and chances of making Gareth Southgate's England squad for the FIFA World Cup 2018 still in doubt.

The Arsenal midfielder missed the friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy due to injury, and the Three Lions do not play again before Southgate names his squad for tournament.

The England boss said Wilshere can still make the squad, as shown by Simon Collings at Hayters:

Wilshere's Arsenal future is also uncertain as his contract expires at the end of the season and he has yet to agree an extension. Ed Malyon at The Independent said it looks like he might leave:

The midfielder has struggled with injury throughout his career but appears to have shrugged off those problems this season as he has made 31 Arsenal appearances in all competitions.

Wilshere has plenty to prove between now and the end of the season, starting with the visit of Stoke on Sunday.

Can Stoke finally win at the Emirates?

Stoke head to the Emirates still searching for their first-ever Premier League victory over Arsenal at the stadium. Manager Paul Lambert has tasted victory at Arsenal, during his time at Aston Villa, and said his team can travel to north London with confidence despite their abysmal record.

He told the official Stoke website: "We will go there full of confidence believing we can win the game. I am full of positivity, and I believe we will keep fighting and get out of this situation we are in."

If Stoke are to take anything from the game, you suspect they will need goalkeeper Jack Butland to be in good form. The Premier League showed how he tops the goalkeeping charts for saves:

Stoke certainly know what it takes to beat Arsenal as they won 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium back in August 2017, but a trip to north London is a different story entirely.

Arsenal will be huge favourites to claim victory on Sunday, but Stoke are fighting for their Premier League lives and may hope the Gunners are distracted by their upcoming Europa League tie.
