Massimiliano Allegri Happy at Juventus Amid Chelsea, PSG Rumours

Christopher SimpsonMar 27, 2018

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has said he is happy with the Bianconeri despite being a rumoured target for Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

He told Premium Sport (h/t MailOnline's Robert Summerscales): "Everything is tied to results. If you win you're good, if you lose you're less good. I have a contract until 2020, and I'm happy here."

According to Summerscales, Chelsea and PSG are considering the futures of respective managers Antonio Conte and Unai Emery, with Allegri mooted as an "ideal candidate" to take the place of either.

Conte's Chelsea have struggled to live up to their first season under the Italian. Having won the Premier League title last year, the Blues are 25 points behind Manchester City in this campaign and are also at risk of missing out on UEFA Champions League football, as they sit fifth.

PSG are set to reclaim the Ligue 1 title as they are 17 points ahead of AS Monaco at the top of the table, but they exited the Champions League at the round-of-16 stage for the second year running.

Allegri, 50, has never won Europe's elite competition but guided Juventus to the final in 2015 and 2017. Sports writer Paolo Bandini made note of his impressive winning record:

The Italian has also won the Coppa Italia with Juventus in each of the last three seasons, ensuring a league and cup double on each occasion, and he also won the scudetto with AC Milan in 2011.

The Old Lady will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in April, a reward for completing an impressive comeback against Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16.

With his side 1-0 down in the second leg, Allegri made two substitutions and changed the shape of the team midway through the second half, which proved decisive as Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala struck soon after to hand their side a 4-3 win on aggregate.

Former Premier League footballer Joey Barton hailed the Juventus manager:

Spurs' three goals are also the only strikes Juve have conceded in 2018 in any competition, and they have shipped just once more since November 29, a run spanning 24 matches.

He would be a fine choice for either the Blues or Les Parisiens. With his outstanding track record of silverware, tactical flexibility and top-level experience, he could bring improvements on both the domestic and European stage.

It seems he's content to remain in Turin for the time being, but in the coming years he may want a new challenge, particularly if Juventus are able to continue picking up the Serie A title each season.
