PSG Transfer News: Javier Pastore Discusses Future Amid Exit Rumours

Rory MarsdenMar 26, 2018

Javier Pastore has admitted his time at Paris Saint-Germain "is coming to an end" despite him still having a year remaining on his contract at the Parc des Princes.

According to Jonathan Johnson of ESPN.com, the midfielder is currently out of favour with manager Unai Emery after returning late from the winter break.

He has now told Onda Cero's Radio Estadio (via Johnson) he is uncertain of his future at PSG:

"My time in Paris is coming to an end, and I am coming to terms with this. I still have one year left on my contract, and I do not know how this will end up. However, I am focused on finishing the season in the best possible fashion and winning all of the titles that we have left to fight for."

Pastore, 28, joined PSG in August 2011 from Palermo for €39.8 million.

He is on track to win his fifth Ligue 1 title with the club this season, while he has also won multiple domestic cup competitions with PSG.

However, his role has been quite limited in 2017-18. Pastore has started only nine Ligue 1 games and was afforded just 68 minutes of UEFA Champions League action before PSG were ejected at the last-16 stage by Real Madrid.

As an attacking midfielder, he has borne the brunt of the summer arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe—he even had to give up his No. 10 shirt to the Brazilian.

Pastore can still likely rely on being given a way out of PSG as there should be a number of top clubs interested in him.

The Argentina international is an accomplished creative player, as his career return of 29 goals and 40 assists in 179 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG suggests.

Inter Milan were heavily linked with Pastore in January but PSG's demands meant the move never materialised, according to Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio, per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Ben Gladwell of ESPN.co.uk).

He will only have a year left on his PSG contract come the summer, though, and given Pastore himself admits he is not set to remain much longer with the club, it would be a huge surprise if he did not move on at the end of the season.
