Manchester United to Reportedly Scout Juventus Star Paulo Dybala at Wembley
Manchester United will reportedly send scouts to Wembley Stadium on Wednesday to keep an eye on Paulo Dybala as Juventus take on Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 clash.
The Bianconeri travel to London after drawing 2-2 in the first leg in Turin, and the Red Devils will use the opportunity to take in the talents of reported target Dybala, per TransferMarketWeb (h/t Daily Star's Jack Staplehurst).
The Argentinian was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window by The Sun's Wally Downes Jr., and the attacker will be looking to play a winning hand in Juve's hopes of advancing to the next round.
Dybala made just his second Serie A start of 2018 on Saturday and scored an injury-time winner in Juve's 1-0 defeat of Lazio, leading OptaPaolo to underline his importance in big matches:
The 24-year-old missed the first leg in Turin but will provide his team with welcome reinforcements for the trip to England, while his suitors will also be glad to get a firsthand glance at his talents.
Dybala has impressed with 18 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions this season while playing in a variety of roles, although his best position has come as a supporting striker just off main frontman Gonzalo Higuain.
Italian broadcaster Rai Sport (h/t Mirror's Martin Domin) reported there is disharmony between Juventus and Dybala, however, opening the door to a potential summer switch if the relationship between the two breaks down.
The forward is a supplemental star as well as a finisher of extreme quality, and Statman Dave recently pinpointed his prolific chance creation in European competition this term:
The Bianconeri signed Dybala from Palermo for a reported €32 million in 2015 and are sure to make a handsome profit on their investment if he leaves at the end of this season.
But Juventus aren't likely to be open to cashing in on their star's signature, and manager Massimiliano Allegri recently illustrated his importance to the side when detailing his careful return from injury:
Many might have thought Paul Pogba was beyond reach until he moved back to Old Trafford for a then-world-record £89 million in 2016—a move that showed United have the power to pull off difficult transfers.
Wednesday's European showdown will provide United with a rare chance to see Dybala in action in an English setting, something he may do more in future should his display convince the Red Devils to push ahead with a summer bid.
