Victor Wanyama Reportedly Wants New Contract Amid Man United, Liverpool Rumours
Victor Wanyama reportedly wants a new contract from Tottenham Hotspur amid rumours linking him with Manchester United and Liverpool.
According to the Mirror's Darren Lewis, Wanyama is wanted by both clubs as they eye midfield reinforcements this summer, and he wants a new deal at Spurs, despite having three years left on his current contract.
The 26-year-old joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2016 and has established himself among the Premier League's top enforcers.

Wanyama provides strength and physicality in the centre of the park, and he's an outstanding ball-winner too, per Squawka Football:

The Kenyan has missed much of the current campaign through injury but returned to action in January and has featured in all but one of Spurs' matches in 2018, albeit many of his outings have been from the bench as he returns to full fitness.
Wanyama capped his return with a sensational strike against Liverpool at Anfield in February, though his shooting isn't usually so good, as Football.London's Alasdair Gold noted:
Nevertheless, he netted five goals for Spurs in all competition last season, which is a reasonable return for a player primarily tasked with a defensive role.
It is his robust execution of that role that could make him a valuable asset at Anfield or Old Trafford.
Liverpool in particular could do with protection in front of their back four, who have shipped the most goals in the Premier League's top five.
Emre Can looks set to leave the club in the summer, while Jordan Henderson is not a natural holding midfielder and often leaves their defence exposed.
United are less desperate after they signed Nemanja Matic last summer, though the 29-year-old has had a great deal of ground to cover this season, per football writer Liam Canning:
The Serb's work rate is commendable, but he has appeared visibly fatigued of late and his form has often suffered as a result.
The arrival of a player like Wanyama would lighten his load, and manager Jose Mourinho could either rotate the pair to keep them fresh or deploy them both in an effort to free up Paul Pogba.
Wanyama is perhaps hoping to use the interest as leverage for better terms at Tottenham, though having sat out most of this campaign he'll likely need to build up some form over the coming months before Spurs hand him a new deal.
