Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
Scarbrough is one of the class' toughest prospects to project because of his status as a high-end recruit, his inability to lock down the starting job during his time at Bama and the flashes of potential he showcased with the Crimson Tide.
The rusher was a 5-star prospect and the No. 16 overall player in the 2014 class when he committed to Alabama, per 247Sports.
Although there were times when he showcased that type of upside with the Tide, he never separated himself from the pack in the stacked program's backfield.
Scarbrough finished his collegiate career with 1,512 yards on 267 carries (5.7 yards per attempt) and 20 touchdowns across 31 games with Alabama. He recorded just 21 catches.
The two-time national champion told Michael Casagrande of AL.com he didn't have the "great season that I was planning on having" but still thinks he could bring a lot to an NFL roster.
"My personality and the type of person that I am, the type of player that I am," Scarbrough said about his strengths. "Outgoing and a leader on and off the field."
All told, he's a tremendous all-around athlete with the physical tools to succeed at the pro level. He has yet to prove he could become a three-down workhorse, however, and his lack of involvement in the passing game at Alabama could also limit his number of snaps early in his NFL career.
Scarbrough is set to join a Cowboys roster that won't ask him to carry a heavy burden because of Elliott's status as one of the league's top running backs. He can, however, serve the role that was held by Darren McFadden as a change of pace for the past three seasons.
While he probably won't end up making a massive impact as a rookie, players with his type of raw talent usually get their opportunities to shine. It's a worthwhile flier for Dallas that could pay off in a major way if Scarbrough realizes his potential.
